Default EOI: Uprated rear engine mounts

I've had it with the engine tramp and motor movement in my car, so I'm going to do something about the rear engine mount (have you ever had someone start your car and seen how much the motor moves?) It's a possibilty that I could have a round of mounts manufactured, if there's enough people interested (about 8-10). I haven't drawn it up yet, so no firm idea on price, but it should be well under $100

I'd be in for sure mate. Have noticed how much it moves around on startup. Looks a bit worrying sometimes, I must say!!!

I'm in, hopefully will help with the clunk on accel/decel. What material you thinking?

There's heaps of bolt-in replacements as well as Corksport inserts and DIY filling the stock mount.

It'll be a urethane insert, and a steel body. I haven't looked at it much past there, but I'll get onto it soon. Hopefully I'll get the car up on stands tomorrow and have a proper look at it...I was just going to buy one from the US, but the exchange rate has made that a pretty expensive prospect...

OK, got under there today and had a look at it, it'll be incredibly simple to make a decent replacement. My plan is to find a compatible Polyurethane bush as an off-the shelf part (internal diam about 16-20mm, OD 35-40mm) and then machine a housing to suit. Might even make shiny shiny billet aluminium ones

Hmmm, looks like there's two distinct options...

1) Make a new housing and a buy or make a new bushing.

2) Make a PolyUrethane bushing to suit the standard mount.

I'll pull it out of the car on the weekend and have a proper look at it, press out the factory bushing (if possible) and take some measurements. To my mind just making a replacement bushing would be by far the most cost-effective solution, but I'll go with whatever you guys are keen on...

I think the side mounts are filled with oil? would this be the same for the rear?

It doesn't seem to be, unless it's very fine...normally oilfilled mounts don't have the cutouts like the torque mount does, the rear mount has cutouts in the rubber, kinda like a radioactive symbol. Either ways, it's gotta go
