Default Airbag Torx

Anyone know where I can get the 5 star torx for the airbag? Repco have it but they want $40 for it. I dont want to spend $40 of my hard earned on something ill use only once. Ive been the SuperCheap, Bursons and a few local auto part shops but no one stocks it.

Cheers

I bought a kit for about $40 delivered, but it has a whole heap of other bits too (I already had them, but still...)

They are indeed! Took me months of very casual occasional online searching to find one. All the local Repcos, Autobarn etc didn't know anything about it.

I tried to get one from ford but they wouldnt give me one unless I had a certificate to say I could take out airbags. A real quick fix buy a $2 screw driver from repco get the chisel out and make a little hole in the middle of the flat head screw driver to accommodate for the little lump in the screw in the airbag. Works perfect and takes no less then 5mins to make the screw driver

Ive read about this method but the thing is I dont have a clamp to be able to chisel/saw the screwdriver. Ill see if any mates have clamps.

I ended up buying a set of them for work anyway. Do not mind if people PM me and come to the workshop and I will take the wheel out.

Don't chisel the screwdriver, get the 90 degree edge of a flat file and file a 'V' into it in the centre of the flathead ;) .Only takes a min to file out the notch and saves smashing the head of the screwdriver apart by trying to chisel it out. cheers.

This is what they look like http://www.wihatools.com/700seri/716_IPR_serie.htm

I got mine in "Torx Plus" kit off ebay. I've been looking for about 12 months on ebay as my brother wants a set as well but I just haven't seen them on there.

I used a small flat blade screwdriver and had NO trouble getting them out. Took three goes to find the right screwdriver that would fit in but I did

Thats what my friendly ford service manager told me too, so i said can you undo it for me? ohh noo you'll have to book it in and we're booked out for the week.

So I ended up doing the screw driver trick, didn't work as well as planned :togo:

just hope whoever buys it down the track doesn't have a look under the plastic covers, very messy lol
