Default Read ALL of your timeslips

Yesterday I saw what happens when you don't read all of your time slips. In the Timeslip database there is a 'new' entry somewhat better than the car's previous best.
Just before the slips were thrown away they were read and the discovery made!! It didn't help that at the time the timing boards at Calder weren't working at that time.
See who is first to see who it is.. and it isn't me !! _2:

The mingenator had an assumed best of 12.7 .. but in amongst the time slips was an 11.9.
That was the problem at Calder before when there were no times up to see..

No offence to Gary or his mechanics but I think you are under estimating the amount of time and dollars required to run a nine second pass in that car

No offence taken. I think you underestimate the car itself.
Heres just a quick couple of points that many may not be aware of.

The 11.9 second pass was done with:
cooling issues
max rpm of 5000 (meaning gears had to be changed by lifting off) instead of 7500rpm that the engine is built for.
1st gear disengaged meaning it took off in 2nd gear in a falcon auto!
Basic Motec tune
No N2O being used at all

So once the car is running a decent tune, reving to 7500rpm, using first gear and a good shot of N2O it was built for.....9 seconds should not be an issue

No Probs ONGAS

might have to use one of your little bodies to transpose the Motor into...

But what Casper said is Right, still ALONG way to go till it is running peak numbers, just so many issues to still iron out that its not funny

I doesn't take much to see how fast Laminge's car can be if you know what your looking at. It's miles off where is could be. It's obviously not being used to it's full potential. The amount of time it hits the limiter and how quick it hits the limiter is phenominal.

I wouldn't mind being the other person in the next lane when it runs at full potential. That way I could watch it sail past 1st hand It's a monster waiting to be unleashed.

Ash, you also underestimate how much has been spent. Have patience padawan.. it may never run a 9 but once it's sorted it will give it a good nudge.

My holden mates dont know the car but they spotted it last thursday in Lilydale, they couldnt shut up about it.

Then I told them what was under the bonnet! They were very impressed! I cant wait to see how it does when it is running right.

Its the little things.........................

CV's, the BTR auto, tailshaft, etc etc.

The car is a monster HP wise, the other problem will be the instant torque factor that will not allow the car to run into the nine or even ten second bracket.

Put the motor in a car with a 4 link, and a transbrake C10, diff story.

Just dont mess with it on the road....... :SaiyanSmi

What I'm saying is that having been a drag racer myself I know how hard it is to go from one milestone to the next. I did over 100 passes [over a six month period] to get my ET down from a wheel spinning XX.20 running out of fuel at WOT to XX.94 and that was racing every week and spending a lot of dollars getting there.

Maybe I'm just one of those people who sets lower goals and likes to be surprised rather than disappointed.

Anyway Gary, if you want to "borrow" one of the little XE bodies, you are more than welcome to use mine gladly as long as you provide me something to drive to and from work :newangel: What's the weight difference between a TS50 and an XE Fairmont Ghia?

Thanks Ash

To me, the fun of drag racing is getting out there and doing it as often as I can.

Times dont frustrate me, the fine tuning and problem solving does.

that's what its all about mate especially after something doesn't go right and we're all standing around the pits like this :lookedat:

In the USA Pro Stock bikes cracked the 7.0's 5 years ago and only just hit the 6.99's this year.

Top Doorslammer in OZ ran 6.07 in 2002 and still has yet to crack a 5 despite at least a half dozen racers into the 6.0's. Victor Bray also ran 245 mph in 2002 and it took until the current season for someone to hit 240 again.

The Gates belts rep told me that Victor Bray ran a high 5 second pass on the weekend, but didnt back it up for the record. Could it be true?

Willowbank Winternationals Delivers On Day One
The Winternationals drag racing spectacular has finally arrived at Ipswich’s Willowbank Raceway and so too has the boy wonder of the Australian drag racing scene, 21 year-old Ben Bray.
Delivering on the potential showcase of World class achievements, Bray set the tone in Deno’s Cranes Top Alcohol, edging close to within one hundredth of a second of the current National elapsed time record with a time of 5.72 seconds.
also ran the Jack Daniel’s Top Doorslammer – Top Qualifier Ben Bray 6.07 seconds

Ah yes but that 5.72 was done in Top Alcohol... a Very different class to Top Doorslammer. TA ran into the fives back in 1995. TD yet to do it!
