So obviously I cant remember when I was 5, or what I got as a 5 year old, , but this is the coolest thing I think we could ever have given him.
ITs the official hasro Transformers Optimus Prime. ( yeah cost about $90 ). Quality is awesome and it clicks from robot to truck very well. The reaction from a 5 year old simply cant get any better. thinking back to the mid 70's when I was 5 I think I got a bat and ball.... Times Change.. AC/DC |

Thats awesome!
I was looking through the cupboards the other day and found all my old transformers, including an original optimus prime. Wonder how much it would be worth? I then spent the next 20 minutes randomly shooting spring loaded missles at my missus! The multi-missile rapid fire ones were particularly popular. Ah, to be a kid again!

Not trying to hijack your thread but does anyone remember the cartoon from the mid to late 80's that had 5 large mechanical cats or tigers? They had people 'driving' them and could all join up together to form some big human shaped thing. There was a red, blue, yellow, black and green one i think.
Anyway, i was about 5 when that cartoon was popular, got the red one for a birthday or Christmas and thought it was just about the best thing ever |

Speaking of Transformers, did anyone have the complete Constructorcon set? You know the earthmoving Decepticons; one was an excavator, another a Bulldozer, one of those big mine dump trucks etc. They all went together and made that big robot (like Voltron). I think we had 3 of the 5 or something.

AC/DC,
Kids are amazing , I'm sure your "little fellow" will have hours of fun with it , converting these things like that makes it Sooo frustrating for us . Long time ago , we got a computer with WIN95 , we turned it on and "Stared" at it , called out daughter in , about 8 at the time , Guess who taught us how to use it ? ? ? Even Lot's , Lot's longer ago , Mum & Dad bought me a "Cyclops" 3 wheel Tractor for my 5 th B/day (know this because I was looking at thr Pic only weeks ago) . Sitting on the back verandah was this "Lovely , shiny 3 wheel Tractor & here I was , out side playing with a "stick" running up & down the driveway in the dirt . : (lived on a farm) Boy , were they pi$$ed . Norm

I think its awesome all this stuff from the 80's I remember as a kid making a comeback
Pity I never really had many of the toys and stuff that could be worth something now, or considered cool now. Was at a friend's place a couple of weeks back, her partner has an original Optimus Prime (transformed to robot) standing in a glass cabinet, I was just in awe at it - I wanted one as a kid, and I want one now! Glad to hear your 5 year old likes it, who knows, in another 25 years when he has kids Transformers could be making another comeback and he can pull that one out...... although I doubt it!

I've still got my original Optimus Prime. Well it's in a box at the top of a wardrobe at Mum and Dad's house, but it's still alive. And I can remember how to transform it! Mind you he wasn't really that hard, but some of the others were.
