Okay I'm probably going to be hated for this but I'm just ganna say it. I hate the way ford is going all out euro styling. I mean the focus and feista I can understand cause they were designed over there. But the falcon is getting the exact same style integrated into part of it's body (like the headlights). If you have three models in australia with the headlights looking like just minor alterations of each other then they'll just become bland.
It's just been annoying the hell outta me because in my opinion the falcon's always been a tough car and over the last few years it's slowly becoming less tough and more euro trash. Anyone else have the same opinion or am I the only one that doesn't like the way ford is heading styling wise? |

Most people will probably agree with you if you're refering to the AU models, wich were heavily influenced by European styling. I wouldn't go as for as calling it euro trash though, generally European designs are the trend setters and ahead of other markets.

European styling is what most aussie consumers want. As long as it's euro with a mix of aussie it's ok by me. Better than current American sedan styling IMO. The Yanks do know how too make a nice looking coupe though (Mustang, Camaro, Corvette).
And you will find that the AU had more US influence to it as well. It's shaped like the cockroach Taurus, and then had the euro "edge" design in the lights.

Bring back the steel is real era. :
God there were some hot cars from the 50s, 60s and 70s. IMO far better than some of these monstrosities today. |

I for one like the euro look we are getting now.
For instance the Focus. Do you recall the Focus adds with Andrew Gee and the Mp3 player on the roof and that blonde girl with the fish tank? I recall that was the first time I noticed what they had done with the flared guards. That looks so much better than the straight bland panels like the predecessor had. They seem to be in every car now, the VE commodore took on the flared guards look and now when I look at a BA and BF it kind of looks out of place. So all in all I think the euro styling is the way to go and they have the formula right for the Aussie Market.

Every Falcon after the XC has been euro. Except for their size and V8 engines. Some have been original though. like the XR bodykits. thats about it. otherwise its always been globally influenced by fords European outpost. Just be glad its not going Korean styling like commodore wants to.

More Euro styling is needed - the Orion should look like a big Ferrari F430 replica.

I drive a Euro car. Don't mind the styling at all. I also like the look of the new Falcon if the CGI's are anything to go by.

As other have said in one way or another, XP to XC the Falcons styling was a direct carryover/heavily based on US styling, once you hit XD the styling was heavily Euro based. When you get to the E-Series there was a mix of euro with US noses (EA Falcon-equivalent Taurus)
AUs basic shape was dictated by the droopy Taurus, with 'new edge' surfacing/styling and headlights/tailights. AUs styling is fascinating in that theres so much XY-XC in there as well (check the AU XR bonnet, very similar to an XY/ZD, the side crease also very XY; the rear glass and its relationship to the rear guards/c-pillars very XA-C coupe. A pretty funky mix of US/Euro/Aussie History. Falcon has been very Euro since 2002 with the BA (whos styling is basically a rough, inoffensive sketch of the Orion) I think we should enjoy the Euro-kinetic design themes coming in right now, as odds are by mid next decade all Fords could have a design language started in the US. |

I think what he means by euro style is that all the cars are starting to look like BMWs. Weather it holden, mazda, toyota or ford. I own a BA XR6 at the moment but if ford gose like the commodore then I guess I can only go as far as a BFGT when I up grade because I don't want a BMW looking yuppie machine. I'll just stick to my old XBGT HORN CAR and make it a daily driver It will never get mistaking for a BMW although it has been called a mustang a few times.

I dont have a problem with the Euro styling, but make it a little unique for the Aussie consumer. The BA XR has BMW styling but has been more aggressive, which came out looking good. |
