Default Mt Isa to Dubbo

Was wondering what everyone thought was the best way to travel on a budget from Mt Isa to Dubbo .......

Does anyone know of or have access to a mode of transport from/to the destinations that are available ?????

dumb question: do they have planes that go from from mt isa to dubbo?

else; you could always catch a coach or train(?)

not entirely sure.. as I've only driven from bris to dubbo, but i did see a lot of coaches and trains

(not sure how many stops a coach does) but its over 20 hrs cruising distance?

Road.... I dont think there is a rail service from the Isa. If there is (was) you would have to go from the Isa to Bris, then Bus to Dubbo.

Is 4Wd an option. There are some awsome places to visit on the "roads" between the Mount and Dub.

The only way to travel (that trip) on a budget is in your own car. No other form will come close - particularly if there is more than 1 person making the trip.
Air ~$750 a seat, Rail would be slooow and I guess a few hundred a seat, bus is even worse than train and probably dearer. If flights are too much atm, it's car, car, car.

Fly?

Dubbo Sydney
Sydney Brisbane
Brisbane Mt Isa

Macair Fly between Townsville, Mackay and Brisbane. http://www.macair.com.au/
A flight from Brisbane to Mt Isa on them will set you back around $350. It's a stop start flight, with 6 stops in between.
Or you could get to Townsville on someone like Virgin or Jetstar.
Expect to pay around $200 from Townsville to Mt Isa.
They have all those prices on their website as well.

Or you could jump on a Greyhound bus. They all head out there too. www.greyhound.com.au
Dubbo-Toowoomba, then Toowoomba-Mt Isa
Or Dubbo-Brisbane then Brisbane Mt Isa
All over $300 as well.

Rail Wise, the closest stop is Townsville as well. Passenger services run from Brisbane to Townsville all the time.
From Dubbo to Mt Isa (Going the inland way through Bourke/Charleville) will be around 2000klm.

Cheers

Darran

Bus is always cheap, but then again long distance bus travel is no fun, believe me.
