Hey everybody, I am posting this for a good friend who needs to find his feet moving to a new town,

His name is Ray and he is a car detailer/ mechanic,
and is looking for casual/ part time work in either ipswich/toowoomba or brisbane in a couple of weeks due to relocating from another part of qld,

doesn't matter what kind of employment it is, in the end cash is cash:

any interest at all would be greatly appreciated as he is looking to earn some money so that he can get settled in ,

I know it sounds mean, but I'm sure Maccas or KFC are hiring.

I say this because people always ***** about not enough work. Get a job, any job, in the mean time, he can still look for another job whilst working in some food outlet/delivery place/supermarket/whatever. These jobs are ideal, they're always looking for workers and have pretty much no longterm contract (usually two weeks notice). He'll have a steady income, and oodles of time to look for other, more suitable work.

Like you said, cash is cash.

That's a pretty crap suggestion.

Should be no reason he can't get a job doing what he knows - just be a backward step to go and be a food outlet/delivery place/supermarket pleb - when he could be developing his skills, and getting a half decent dollar in the process.

did you read any of puts99's post?

if the guy is OUT OF WORK, and is having trouble finding a job right now, the best step he could take is to get himself something....something that will bring in a few bucks....
he isnt locked into anything and can leave whenever he gets some employment in the field he wants to be in

Plenty of car wash places these days, they'll take him within a blink of an eye.

If he wants a mechanic job, he should check the local paper and ask around at petrol stations with service centres.

You completely missed my point. I'm suggesting he get a job in one of those places whilst he looks for another. Why? Steady income, no longterm contract, easy to get imployed almost immediately, no skills required.

While doing that kind of work, he can look for his preffered type of job, and not worry about rent, bills etc. Purely short term.

Think outside the square , it's not that hard. take the water / wash mix i make up ( quick wash ) in a pump spray and you can clean any car anywhere.

You might argue with me that it uses water to make the mix ? if so its a concentrate similar to any other product you can buy ie laundry softeners, dish washing liquid etc

I guess what I meant was that the old days of breaking out a high pressure hose and blasting the bejesus out of the car after spending 1/2 an hour in suds are long gone so yeah doing what you do ( I have seen your threads before ) is one way around it. I don't know what the current water restrictions are like (we're on level 5 here in Brisbane) but I know you're not permitted to wash your car but you can 'spot clean'. So as far as cleaning it via your method, I dunno what trouble you'd get into.

That said, I see *plenty* of very shiny clean cars here in Brisbane, methinks that either the car wash machines are doing craploads of business or people are just ignoring the water restrictions. Its usually the pricks in Beamers and other 'luxury' cars with the cleanest car too...

Im sure being a mechanic or a car detailer he would have no trouble finding work at all. Most car detailers are always hiring. Im sure someone on the forum knows of someone or would take him on them selves even

Ring one of the rental car/truck places, they are always looking for people, and considering his experience he should be a shoe in.
