Hello,
Ive installed the AUX Chord in my XR6, and was using a cheap mp3 player I won playing golf. It has shiet itself after two weeks... Is it worth going all out and getting an ipod? Or any other kind of mp3 player? Is a gig big enough. The plan is to have it in my car all the time. Any suggestions? Greg

Don't get sucked into getting an ipod just coz everyone else has one. People buy them more often then not because they are a fashion accessory.

Get an iRiver. Those are really good feature-wise. iPods are good in that the integration with the computer is really good. Its easy to use.

I have an iPod Photo and I haven't had any problems for over a year. I recommend the new iPod Video for sure. Although I have listened to iRivers and they do have more bass.

Anything but an iPod. Same $$$, more features, less restrictions.
Personally, I have a SanDisk 256Mb player which I bought in Malaysia a couple years back. Has built in FM radio and voice recorder as well. Bought the wife a 1Gb SanDisk MP3 player for christmas. Was the same price as the iPod shuffle, but once again has built in FM radio and voice recorder. Also can show pictures on it.

and also alot more durable compared to the iriver (esp. the H10 what a flop) Samsung K5 is the fashion statement, you wouldnt believe the amount of people that saw it on fergies film clip wanting to buy it the creative zen V Plus - look ghey, menu setup isn't quite as user friendly as the ipod. personally i got 2 ipods, both work great, both the previous gen (whatever number that is....but the one that came with itunes), both been used in the gym, sweated on, stepped on, dropped from waist height, played till they froze and are still going. value for money and leaving the fact that one looks better than the other, the creative or iriver's win, because both have FM playback, voice recording, line in recording, mp3, mp4 (movies), pictures and whatever games on them, ipod has mp3, pictures and 4 games thats ALL. warranty wise, ipod can be a$$holes, sorry are a$$holes but the warranty is usually done through an apple shop or someone that fixes them for a living (@ $6 per ipod), creative isnt too bad last ones i sent away took about 4 weeks, but they just replaced it (screen was dead), iriver - where do i start, almost 2 entire repair books are filled with IRIVER H10, most stayed there for 1 month or 2 came back fixed and some went back again. the iriver E10 is alot better than the H10, the T series runs on batteries if that makes a difference hope that helps

iriver is my vote, uses a AA battery's but they last a damn long time pending on use, fairly easy to get your cd's or existing mp3's on to it, and with battery's no downtime when they go flat just swap'n'go.

To FalconSR, I'm running an iRiver H10 with no problems at all and none have been back through my work on warranty's either and we sold a bucketload.
I've also just loaded Rockbox on it which has made it even better. |
