Had a big weekend - thought I'd drop by the shop and grab some individual stubbies to try out.
I'd had beez neez and asahi before, along with a few others. There are alot of imported ones that I hadn't heard of the names of but I thought I'd have a look anyway. I grabbed Asahi again, I enjoy them a fair bit. Blue Tongue Pilsner Little Creatures Pale Ale HoeGaarden. Have to say that little creatures I wasn't a huge fan of, it wasn't bad, had a nice flavour too it. The Hoegaarden rocked though, awesome taste, great texture. I think the Bluetongue retained it's head for the longest.. Anyway, have to get some fresh ones next week. In the meantime, if Bravara is cheaper then Corona's grab a carton of them. I'm generally a fan of them aswell as they are slightly nutty, if I remember correctly. |

Firstly, Hoegaarden does rock. It rocks so much, you can snap your male appendage off should you try to copulate with it. Great drink. Bravara is cheaper and no worse than Corona. The difference is that the latte-sippers drink Corona when they want beer. The marketing gurus @ Corona have done well. Bravara is almost the same. If you love the taste of beer, I do not recommend it though. Just my 3 cents. It would have been 4, but I can't afford it. |

Usually I dont, but on this topic I agree with you 100%. Matilda Bay is also very nice. I thought the lemon in Corona story had more to do with their water being so putrid they had to mask it; either way beer shouldn't have lemon/lime in it. Corona is nice no doubt, but its hyped up alot; its as bad as Sol.

I was always under the impression that the lemon on the bottle was to help sterilise the top of the bottle, because they always used recycled bottles and it just kept on carrying through as tradition. But yes, like I said no idea where I heard that from.
Bravara, how much is it usually? Last time I got a carton it was 2 for the price of one because they were starting to get a bit long on the use by date. Like I said, I'd take them over a corona, but doesn't mean I'd jump at the chance. And yes, I think I may rip off my male apendage - I wonder if I hand it in I'll get a carton of hoegaardens. Or sl*tgardens as I am now calling them. |

I haven't had much time to go through and read all the replies in the thread, but Cooper's Sparkling Ale is the best.
5.8% alcohol to get you drunk quicker. I usually go through a carton or two of the stuff each weekend.

It did say working class beer so for all the ****s out there who think 60.00 bucks for a carton of beer is working class, Grow a stubby one and go pull it. I mean sure I like the classy beers, Little creatures Bright is a great drop but as far as working class goes, Ive got to say XXXX Bitter, un fortunatley because i live in WA now and cant get it i drink Tooheys Extra Dry.
Sure they sell XXXX Gold over here, but that ****s for tourists and old people. |

Bitburger is a very nice German brew, and I don't mind Holsten either - both of these are still imported from Germany, unlike Beck's. I haven't been a big fan of the Beck's since they started brewing it here, not as good as the original imported brew.

Pity that the big breweries destroy quality. I hope that Cascade doesn't go down the domination path. CUB and Lion Nathan are evil. |

Um, matilda bay brewing co and cascade have been owned by fosters group (aka CUB) for over a decade... so they're certainly not out to destroy quality.
Had a moosehead for the first time on the weekend... if thats the best they can export from canada we're doing very, very well in AUS!!! Also on the lemon wedge in corona... it was to sterilise the top of the bottle and to keep the flies out... amazing how it turned into a must have.... |

Based on the absolute fall in quality of Stella Artois, Heineken, Becks and Carlsberg, big breweries brewing international beers in Australia is a no-go. I've had genuine Stellas and Heinekens, and they are superior to the "brewed under license" crap. |

I reckon half the people who are anti-Corona do it so they don't feel like they are conforming : Who cares what the lemon's for! I like the bitter-lemon taste - especially on the first swig from the bottle. Mmmm... Just like the deal with tequila shots - it's a bit of tradition for a bit of fun. Sure you could have it without the salt and the lemon, but it just doesn't have that zest! Some people are looking too hard into it! So many cynics. Just enjoy your beer! uranium_death, I do agree with you on the taste of a lot of the so-called "imported" beers not being the same as the ones that come out of European countries. Or really any beer "brewed under licence" here from another country. For my personal taste, I'll stick with Cooper's Pale Ale for the best "working man's" beer. I can't get enough of that nectar.

I reckon that Coopers in general, for the price you pay, you get a bloody good drop, regardless of which variety it is!

BEES NEES! Honey Wheat beer from Matilda Bay.
I have a bar fridge full of Crown Lager/Red Back for me and the door is full of Beez Neez for my Girl friend and her friends. It has a slight Honey taste. Most of my GF's friends are Bourban drinkers but once I introduced them to this they LOVED it! now I have more girls coming over.... Nice!
