It is quite big, but that's what happens when the phone has a 4.8 inch screen.

Perfectly man. Its really not that much bigger than the S2, it just looks it cos its white. I had them side by side and its seriously not much bigger. Size is perfect IMO.

I got one today. I had an iphone 3 and the s3 feels massive in comparison. Haven't h ad a chance to use it much, but feels super responsive.

The eye recognition thing actually works. You don't think about it at the time, but the amount of times using my SGS2 that I've been reading a big article only to have the screen turn off and think to myself "**** I wish it wouldn't do that" it really is a cool feature.

Looking at my S2 ... the S3 has less surround around the screen.
The problem I have with my S2 was that I put a hardcase around it for protection really ... and so i could hold onto the damn thing without it slipping out of my fingers.

I'd need something similar for the S3 if i got one too ... making it larger again.

Now to really see what battery life is really like with it.

Faster mobile data, I have a 4G phone and in 4G networks its super fast.

I didn't bother waiting because I am never in 4G coverage anyway, and by the time my contract is up with this one (or I find something I want more and buy it out) I'll get something in 4G when the network is rolled out everywhere.

I wanted my new toy straight away, okay!

The difference between 4G and 3G (especially in Australia) is over-estimated at this point. My SGSII is faster than my ADSL2+ home connection.. significantly faster, in fact. I'll chew through roughly 500GB of data on my home connection compared to an average of 600MB on my phone per month.

When I am using data on my phone - typically browsing or RDP - the difference between 3G and 4G is negligible. Unless you're planning on sustaining large downloads on your mobile phone and that extra minute you'll save based against what it'll cost you is absolutely essential, it would be frivolous, IMO, to base a current purchase on whether the device is 3G or 4G capable.

Bit of a check in. Took the phone off charge at 8am this morning, brightness set to about 3/4 which didn't change all day. Did a fair bit of photography, as well as the usual facebook, texting etc so I'll say moderate to high use and the battery tells me it is sitting on 65%

Thats pretty bloody good if you ask me, especially for a 720p 4.8 inch screen with a 1.4ghz quadcore...

53% as at just over 13 hours unplugged. Usage since I've been home (since about 4) has been reduced to almost nothing, but I've still taken a few pictures and played with it and battery has dropped 2% between 4pm and now (almost 10 past 9).

Taking photos certainly does, as does Facebook if you use it for extended periods of time. I found out about that at my old job when we had quiet time on my Galaxy S2.

Played Temple Run at tafe for about 20 minutes today if that counts.

Battery life so far seems much better than the Galaxy S2, even with the 2000mah aftermarket (Samsung official) battery.

Whilst its an s3 thread, just to give you a comparison my one x was taken off charge at 6.30am. I have just put it back on charge after 18hrs. 33% still left. Used it for calls, maps, txt, usual facebook etc. VERY happy with that!

That's a valid point. But I never purchased my new phone because of its 4G capability. BTW I'm only 20 mins from CBD so I can get 4G and my area is supposedly next to to be upgraded.

It is so tempting to go for the upgrade, but with my SII on ICS and running along beautifully, I don't necessarily think the value proposition is there. What has inspired people to upgrade from the SII to the SIII?

Cool little features like, but not exclusively - double tapping the top of the phone to immediately scroll to the top of a page. Saying 'Hi Galaxy' to wake the phone up, covering the screen with your hand to pause all media that is playing, putting the phone to your ear while viewing a contact will automatically dial them and heaps more that I can't remember.

Want for the newest thing.

720p 4.8 inch screen - looks breathtaking.

Many were put off the 'New iPad' because of the fact that it couldn't do 4G in Australia and Apple went as far as offering cash back returns when consumers felt duped. Seems to me there's a lot of ignorance (not uncommon with computers and gadgets in general) by consumers of their capabilities based on buzzwords. 4G just happens to be the latest one. People want 4G capable devices, they just don't know why they want them.

I guess a comparison between 3G, dual 3G (iPad 3 & old Telstra Ultimate USB modem) and 4G is that 3G will have actual speeds of around 8mb/s, dual 3G around 15-20mb/s and 4G around 35-40mb/s. The are best case scenarios of course (I have seen the 4G speeds btw).

FYI Americas 4G is actually what we call dual 3G, and our 4G/LTE is their LTE.

So their was reason for people to want refunds on their iPad's because their is a difference in speed when quoted in Australia.

Got the S3, upgraded from my jailbroken 4s and im loving it, there are things im still to work out to do but small things i dont like that the iPhone did. But its stuff i can learn to live with.

With the 4G, you need to make sure that the device is compatible with the network. Apple got into **** earlier for the new iPad. It is 4G capable, but only at 700 or 2100 Mhz. Australia's 4G is in the 1800 Mhz spectrum.... meaning that the iPad would not work on it.

Got mine on Sat. I was due for an phone upgrade. I was out of contract and had just broken the screen on my HTC HD2. The SG S3 is a huge step up. The only problem I have is it has so many apps etc I'm constantly using it, killing the battery. I'm not where near the 4G coverage zones so it's perfectly fine on 3G for me.

My 1st charge lasted around 24hrs I'd flogged the phone so much. A mate got one as well he's getting around 2 days from the battery but he doesn't stuff around with the phone.

I've stuck a 16gb SD card in it so I've got 32gb of space to play with. Which will cover me nicely as I didn't even use 16gb with the HD2.

I've got a leather flip case on it's way as I can't see the screen lasting without one.

My charge lasted around 24hrs with lots of mucking around, battery holds up fairly well. Only problem is out of the box it uses a lot of data, 400mb in 2 days -_-
Just gotta turn off all notifications and other junk that pushes through.

Off charge since 6.30am this morning and 62% charge with lots of playing with it. Very pleased. It also charges much faster than the Galaxy S2. I think it may have something to do with the supplied 0.7amp charger over the 0.4 amp (I believe?) charger with the Galaxy2?

I can't say I had the same data issues as you though, Linkachu! Mine is still sitting at 4%, but I had transferred it over to my current plan so that was pro rata usage.
