I know the feeling mate, sometimes we don't realise just where we could be untill we are there, whether that be at or past your previously set goals.

Yeah u never realise how big you got till you lose it, when slayer first told me this time last year that I should be around 88kgs I thought WTF but I'm so glad it's gone never going back again (even looking at getting a tattoo to that effect)

you can always look at that 30KG dumbbell now with a smile, you did all the hard work this past year and its more than paid off, you can do full pushup, situps and smash the weights, anything is now possible

I'm 21 atm, started working in a factory doing labouring and working on a process line about a year ago which kept up my daily fitness. I then started driving machines around the warehouse which basically kept me sitting down most of the day.
On top of this, a mate got me hooked on energy drinks and I found myself to be drinking up to 5 a day (mother, V, redbull etc).

I started stacking on the weight hardcore. I made myself a new years resolution to get in shape this year and get extremely fit which i'm on my way to achieving.

Since Jan 1st i've cut out all junkfood. No fast food, fish and chips etc, no soft drink. The only thing I drink is water. No alcohol and I don't smoke. Healthy breakfast, small lunch and a healthy dinner (still live at home so whatever the family is having for dinner is what I eat, but it's not crap. Usually meat and lots of mixed salad in the summer and meat and 3 veg the rest of the time).

I purchased a treadmill about 2 and a half weeks ago and average about 10 - 12kms a day on it. Power walking at a pretty steep incline and I feel great.

The more i'm on it the further I want to push myself, and would like to start running on the treadmill sometime soon as well.

Weight at January 1st was roughly 100kgs and am now sitting at 94kgs.

Just checking in to look back on this thread weekly and report. I welcome all suggestions, criticism and any tips people might have!
Thought i'd give a little update. It's been one month since the quoted above.

Started using the home gym, weights and treadmill.
Cut back down on the treadmill to 30mins (3.5kms) a day rather than 2hrs (11kms) as I was getting really run down and was always tired. It wasn't something that I could continually sustain.

Seems to be working well for me. I was at 94kgs on the 8th of Feb and currently weigh 87kgs. Once I started using the gym and dumbells i've really started to feel better, plus i'm getting comments from relatives and co-workers. Which is good to hear.

Hope everyone else's weight loss/gain program is going good.

39.5kgs lost here since late October '09 (about 16 months)

Not much lost in the last 2 or 3 months but I am still replacing fat with muscle steadily... I am aiming to drop another 10kg between now and June if I can.

Current bodyfat is 22% but my Visceral fat is still 9 so I have work ahead of me. Lean bodymass is 89kg so my target of 12% body fat should see me at around 105-107kg (currently 116).

Hard to believe I was 156kg not so long ago.

Daniel - superb effort there mate to keep up with the program after so long. Good gradual progress there. Maintain your routine and you should be no heavier than the weight you are now for the rest of your life.

Good work Dan,

I have ramped up my training to a level i have never before been near, gym 5 days a week focussing on a single muscle group (I.E.. Shoulders, Chest, Back, Arms & Legs) with Gridiron training on Tuesday & Saturdays, i went through a patch where i was run down but this week a feel fantastic, had my best chest session in a very long time if not ever, another great session tonight.

My weight is still pretty steady at around 99-100kg but im losing fat all the time, keep up the good work guys & girls we are all better for it.

5 days a week…be careful even if you are doing one group at a time.

I’m currently off for a few days, done my elbow an injury doing EZ-Curls. Just coming good today, so will probably go tomorrow and just put on a lighter weight.
I guess the lesson here is not to go gung ho and do big jumps in weights…I went from EZ-curling 15kg straight up to 20kg…usually do 2.5kg increments…that’s where the damage was done.

My weight has increased a decent amount the last week or so as well which I stoked with. All muscle too.

I am going well. I dont weight myself anymore since I am doing both weight loss and increasing some muscle mass. I go by pant sizes. The looser they feel the more Im losing or maintaining.

Havent been to the gym this week due to work commitments but plan on getting there tomorrow night and push out another session on the spin bike.

Big Trev: Just post in here whenever! 31kg is a top effort. You sound like my old boy, always giving me gip for doing weights and saying he's too old for it haha.

Blueoval: Nice work. Pant size is a good way to do it, I found my waistline is actually just a tad smaller as I build muscle...Still in a 30 waist. So small! But everything else is growing...still putting on weight but I've slipped a little in my eating habits and have been having a bit of junk. Need to hook into the healthy gear again.

Perhaps we could get a Mod to split the thread?

As there is interest on both sides and we don't want to discourage anyone from posting about weight loss.

fpv8u, i rekon you would be over training, 3 days max through the week i rekon, give you 1 day to recover, you wont gain mass working that hard
also all you fellas are doing well, weight lost + working out makes your metabolism speed up, so working out really helps, ive been on a water diet for 6 days now and worked out 3 in the 6 days, i was 85 now im 81.4. not that i really need to loose weight, im just trying to cut. anyway good luck all

Well done brother, you have done the hard yards too, it is worth it, I have dropped from 124.4 (last Feb) to 93.0 as of this morning., I am now in size 92 jeans and I haven't been in them since I was about 20, I am now 54. I have been as high as 130kg. I had been on high blood pressure medication for over 25 years, I now don't need them.

It is has been worth the slog, I still have a little way to until I will be happy.

For this week i have back it off a little bit, just giving my body a rest so to speak, still going to the gym, just lifting lighter (And more reps..) to give some sore areas a bit of a break.

Going to look at stepping off the weights for the majority of training sessions soon (Besides the main lifts..), lots of bodyweight excercise, box jumps and some boxing.

I put on a bit of weight when I was in Tassie the last week…Went to the gym yesterday, was a struggle for sure…Funny how your muscles ‘forget’ so easily.

Thanks mate, have a couple of KG's to lose but most of the hard work is done now.

First session back is always a struggle, get back into you routine or a new program and you will soon find your performance is back on track.
