Thread-Ban-worthy that pic.
No surprise its on special.
Also no surprise the images on the packaging show no internal views. Crispy pastry will only get you so far.

Off you go to Tonz’s place - his Mrs is cooking whitebait fritters for supper.

I reckon Woody will be game enough to test one, if he reads these posts.

On my way up to Newcastle, from Gippsland, via the scenic route.

Heard that the Mitta Mitta General Store has good, homemade pies. Decided on a chunky beef and stout. Naturally, no sauce; I want to be able to taste the flavour!

Nice size chunks of beef, nice gravy, nice touch of stout. Maybe could have been a little stronger. Pastry would have been better if it wasn't a little on the soggy side.

Seemed like the owners /operators were having a bit of a domestic, so the atmosphere wasn't great. Natural scenery was tho, although it would have been better if there wasn't some low cloud around the nearby hills.

One of my locals (Woodcroft Tavern) duz a decent slow cooked beef, mushy and onion pie with chips, gravy n rabbit food.
Nice crispy short crust coffin with a puff pastry lid. The contents were really tasty as was the gravy. Perfect for a Winter Sunday lunch.

I live in Woodcroft, just down the road. Only been there once for a family gathering. They are a pretty decent establishment. Can't comment on their baked goods though.

I went to the woodcroft tavern here in SA a few months back and was underwhelmed. Glad you have found something worth eating there.

Must admit, I totally agree and after a few bad experiences last year, I had to pluck up the courage to give them another go. The food offerings I saw being delivered to other tables looked really good too, so perhaps they have a new chef now.

I stopped eating at woodcroft tav, quality went down as the price went up. This was not long after their makeover. Place is much nicer inside than the old setup though.

That seems like a lot of gravy both on and in the pie for me. But everyone's taste's are different.

Was in Port Elliot today. Bakery gets high praise.
Driving past, I swear the line for this place had over a 100 people standing along the main street.
We had fish and chips by the water...their tartare sauce was a winner

Every time I drive passed that bakery and see 100+ people lining up, it puts me right off. I dont care how good their products are.
