Just saw Trump has been found guilty, 34 counts. TF.
Don't worry, I'm no fan of Sleepy Joe either. A population of over 330 million and these are the only 2 they can find to run the country and Police the fee world.

Looks like this will be the first weekend since the start of the AFL season that North Melbourne did not lose a game.

Getting out in the ocean with my son. With life and work, it's been a while. Really good.

We had a new employee start on trial this past Friday and Saturday. I struggle meeting new people, so I was somewhat on edge.
The new girl got thrown in the deep end owing to a shipment of 600 bare rooted trees to process, label and put into stock on the Friday, then a relatively busy Saturday shift. It was fantastic having another set of hands on deck, both dealing with customers in the shop, but also helping to get through a massive workload. On both counts, she proved very capable despite limited experience. The Friday workload meant that the two deliveries of potted stock that also arrived ended up sitting out back while we prioritized the bare rooted plants. Normally, Saturday is all about selling rather than restocking, however Saturday mornings in winter are usually pretty slow customer wise, so it wasn't really an issue on this occasion. I'm actually a bit anal about stock placement, mainly because I've been corrected just enough over the years to know what is expected (it's funny how negative feedback is always remembered). I'm a very literal type of person, so if I'm corrected on something, it should apply to EVERYONE. I therefore despise laziness when it comes to putting stock out, I would rather the time be taken to get it right from the beginning, rather than just dumping it with no thought and then me having to go back and fix it. If the stock looks good and is displayed nicely, then it makes it easy for customers to shop and buy, which in turn, keeps everyone employed. Unexpectedly, the new girl was paired up with me to help put the stock out, in theory for me to set the bar for how I/we like things done. I always think it's crucial to not only explain how to do something, but why. It's all too easy to just say do this or do that, but explaining why we do things gives much greater context and purpose to the task. After a general how and why word-up, I set her up with a blank canvas and 40 plants to arrange/display and left her to it while I worked close by. Pleasingly, the end result was absolutely fantastic, to the point where I didn't feel the need to tweak or critique the display. What I liked most was that when the display wasn't working, she rearranged the plants until the display was perfect. Exactly what I wanted, an eye for detail and the ability to self-assess. It's been a very long time since I have had to train someone new, but its very rewarding to see the end result of your tutelage producing a high-quality result. This might come across as selfish, but I hope this new staff member stays on, it might just give me a new purpose in my own role.

Finally my ducks are lined up, to start tomorrow on a clutch replacement I’ve been trying to get done since 2018. Car has been barely drivable since 2019, only enough to meet its rego inspections.
Of course, when I picked up the communal car trailer late this afternoon, it was discovered that none of its lights were functional (“But it’s just been re-wired by an auto elec”). I doubt the fault is in my trailer socket, so I have yet another interruption to plans for a clean start… |

After a knee injury 2 years ago chasing F truck parts, surgery and sporadic exercise since, I dragged myself around a 50km route today on my pushbike. It was hard, because the buggers put hills in the way, but I got there.
It was a charity ride, and over $900k was raised for today's event, of which I helped to contribute. I'm hoping to feel good tomorrow...

Finally made an actual start to my Alfa clutch replacement parked from 2018. Six years of sitting has allowed a lot of spider farming, mainly redbacks and those bulkier grey daddy-long-legs.
Towing the car float up to the shop went OK, lighting failure was simply the result of someone hooking into a 24V truck system previously - new globes fixed it. In my haste to get moving though, I’d overlooked the reverse lockout on the brakes, so all braking was done by the ute… Being a double points weekend it wasn’t like I was driving enthusiastically. I did see instantaneous fuel consumption at 68-69/100 a couple of times, not sure about 70 or over per hundred. |

My rescue Magpie Betty has been giving back of late. Noticed her & the 2 others chasing Pigeons away from nesting in our stables the past few weeks.
Just then they were doing a staggered dive-bombing attack on Galahs, that were raiding our freshly seeded back paddock. (: |

Finding an unobtain-ium 2012 FG II Ecoboost front tail shaft coupling (rubber dough nut with spigots and holes).
Didn't need to spend $2k on a new complete unit from Ford. See the last piece of blurb for the email I got from Ford... Didn't need to spend $420 for a second hand complete tail shaft from Ebay. I did however spend $65 on a second hand dough nut from Victoria. That my peeps, made MY day! Daaa umm, FIGJAM enquiries@jeffersonfordparts.com.au 7:37 AM (11 hours ago) to oneman: Unfortunately the Front Coupling on this tail shaft only comes on the full Tail Shaft Assembly. They haven't made it a separate serviceable part. Part no is BR2Z4K145AB... Its $2068.00.

Reading again.
The last book I read destroyed me, left me scarred for weeks and put me off reading. Thankfully, I'm into something a little less angsty this time and its nice to escape for a while lost in the pages.

Had about 12km of green lights on suburban roads tonight - could hardly believe my luck!
That was on the back of a great dinner with old friends, we talked about bucket list travel dreams and a bunch of other stuff. Just a nice evening out. |
