But "we" aren't making excuses for it.

To be honest, I don't think any team has had the pre World Cup form to be a favourite. When England won they were on a roll before the Cup. The same applied to Australia the Cup before. Australia have seemed poor goign forward in ruck and mawl to me. They seemed to practice that a little last hit out but I wait and see if it can hold up to better competition.

I haven't seen enough of NZ to have much of an opinion on them. SA seem strong and Eddie Jones will add a lot to them.

aaaaargh!
I was just looking at the rules ( http://www.rugbyworldcup.com/home/rules/index.html ) and saw the "kicking competition" if there is a draw in matches after the knockout round and nobody is a winner after extra time and then sudden death.

The day a team wins from a "kicking competition" is the day I'll hang up my boots. (If can find them stuffed in the wardrobe somewhere).

It should still come down to an AllBlacks v Wallabies final - then while the AllBlacks deserve favouritism, it will come down to who wants it more on the day. NZ should win a close fought one but it ain't over till the tight head sings.

^^ I think this cant happen (if I read the fixture correctly)

We (Oz) would meet the AB in the Semi's so you would assume that the winner of this game (if its Oz vs AB) should take out the World Cup.

Is that right?

I think it depends on where they finish in teh Pool.
If NZ and Aus both win their Pools and then win their QFs you are right and it would be NZ v's Aus in SF1.
If one of those teams slip to runner up in their pool the draw is different.
If, for example, NZ end up runner up in Pool C they'd play in QF4 instead of QF2 and then move to SF2 instead of SF1.
QF4 is against the winner of Pool D with Argentina, France, Ireland, Namibia and Georgia.
That's an easier run so I hope there is no losing in Pools like there has been in some previous years.

Big one tonight - Australia V's Wales. Larkham is only a 50/50 chance to start with an injury in training. I think Giteau needs to do a bit more in this one.

I'm currently watching RSA v's England. With RSA in such good form Australia needs a win against Wales to chance meeting England over RSA in the QF.

We need to win, not to avoid the Yarpies, but just because we have to be able to beat everyone there anyway.

If it comes down to us not being able to win wihout larkham, we don't deserve it anyway.

Were the French just trying to finish second in their pool to opponent pick in the semis.

Will the Wallabies go the same way against Wales? I hope they wipe them off the paddock but the nly game that really matters is the Final so gamesmanship is sure to creep in somewhere.

Australia 27 d Wales 17

Great win by Fiji on the weekend. The best game I've seen in this World Cup so far.
I kept thinking "pass it" but the Fijians didn't need to - they had the penetration.

Shame the Australia v's Canada game wasn't of the same standard.

Bring on England!

yep, Australia should rip it home.

Scotland V Argies will be a great game as well as France V NZ.

Fiji = no chance, although big Ilie Tabua the human spear has got Fiji lookin pretty good.

Good to see France pay for their back room deals in securing the cup. Pretty sure they weren't planning on meeting the Blacks in a must win match in a foreign country in their own world cup. Or is that the Southern Hemisphere cup...?

I am a bit worried tonight, however we should be able to bring it home.

France must be ****ed off having to play Wales in Cardiff when it is their World Cup!

We get Paddy O'Furniture (o'Brien), so that is one advantage to us, as a Southern Hemisphere Referee could only be beneficial for us. Go kill'em Australia!

Me neither.

Did he get refused citizenship here years ago? The Waratahs have a 1-14 Win/Loss ratio playing with him reffing. I have been in the SFS when he got a Boo.

Paddy will be good (for the record, he's a Kiwi, not Irish).

Good to see that all the teams involved with the backdoor deals have got what was coming to em.

Ireland, Wales out and France playin in Wales- mind you they didn't play very well with a home crowd so maybe an away crowd might help em??.

P.S. French love the backdoor deals.
