Yep I think the laundry would be a good compromise. They are still inside but not doing the business all over the house.

But dogs can be pretty weird animals. No matter what comfy and warm dog bed we put out under the pergola or in the laundry for our silky terrier it would prefer to be lying on the grass covered in frost yet the old girl lived a long life.

The only problem I have with dogs is that they don't live long enough.

15 or so years is so little, I get really attached to them - way it is, but way too short. My ex and daughters have a miniature foxie/chihuahua cross that I dearly love who's 9 years old.

I don't want them to be put in the same situation as your housemate, but when your time's up - I'd rather be euthanized than suffer in silence where I couldn't speak.

Rock and a hard place mate. I wish you well.

Cheers!

We lost one of our dogs a year or two ago. He was a mongrel half-Maltese/half-Pomeranian my Ex fell in love with when he was a pup in a local pet shop in Hoppers Crossing. He wasn't the brightest of dogs, although compared to the one he's left behind he was a canine Einstein. Used to roll in fox crap, like it was some sort of doggie aphrodisiac. He was always fit and active but he got old suddenly, and eventually wouldn't eat. Then we knew something was wrong, as we normally had the opposite trouble where he'd eat his own dinner, then try steal the other dog's and if that failed, the cat's. If both of those failed he'd eat guinea pig crap. Within a couple of days he'd passed away in his sleep while the kids were at school. I came home and buried him in the backyard before they got home.

The little one that is left is 13 or so now. She's as stupid as a dunny brush, and looks like one too. When she's gone no more dogs.

If all else fails & you still can't think how to tell him, email him a link to this thread.
