I was driving home from a friend's place around 11pm and listening to SEN, and Mark Fine (who has a real interest in boxing) was being inundated by callers saying that it was rigged, because a real fight should not last a minute, and that they winked at each other before the fight.

Fine really got annoyed at some people and said that Jones would not have trained up hard just to fall over after a minute, and that for him, a fight should not have to go for 12 rounds just to make it real...

I have little interest in the sport, but thought I'd share that...

Everyone thought it was rigged when Green beat Drews. Who knows. Maybe fighters are just underestimating Green.

RJJ didn't seem to show him much respect, not guarding with the left, 60 seconds in he's been bashed with one good right, sitting on his asre!

I thought Danny was strong enough to hang for 12, but not score enough for the win. His only chance was to pick up an early knock down. Wow, seems he thought the same thing!

Either way to be honest, both have big attacking styles and i couldn't see them both going the distance. It could have just as easily gone the other way just as quickly...

I would like to see a rematch, but mundine should be at greens weight. Green didn't win the last match because he dropped so much weight to vs him, which probably made him uncomfortable. I think if Mundine was to step up to Greens current weight class he would get hammered.

Danny needs to fight a fighter in his prime and not a fighter thats past his prim by 10 years.

If the situation was within the same age as danny the outcome would of been alot different.

If danny can get paid to filght fighters past there prime then good luck to him..

Mind you he couldnt even beat Mundine.

Pretty lame defence on Jr's part. even though Danny had retired, very cheap fight quality wise.

Ever boxed before? it was one of those punches... simple as that... got him in the right spot at the right time.
A cm either way and the fight could have gone 12 rounds and come down to a split...
Like i said, both are big hitters, both have legitimate knock out punches, some boxers wear their opponents out over time, some try to knock them out early, if the right one lands at the right spot it doesn't matter what time of the fight it happens, its lights out... which is why i didn't think it would go past 6 rounds, Green probably got lucky, but that's boxing.

[QUOTE=4Vman]Ever boxed before?

Sure have, 4 years experince in Boxing and 16 in martial arts so I know it quite well.

And I agree it was a great punch but the opposing corner was an expired fighter.

Anyway lets move forward.

Roy was exposed to a right hook or overhand right from the start,he may have been able to drop his left hand 10 years ago and get away with it but not at 40 yrs old.
I would have thought the plan would be to keep it tight the first few rounds and see what was in front of him, probably his ego got the better of him and with Jone's record who could blame him.

36 actually.

Explosive start from Green and I think RJJ was caught off guard.

Disappointing for whoever paid for the PPV but that happens sometimes.

Glad I started at the pub at the nice hour of 6!

Haha loved how the pub erupted when Roy Jones Jnr's female support crew came out. Let's just say...I don't think 'they' were real. Hahaha.

Awesome result! Go Green Machine!

LOL - I was so upset that I couldn't get to any of the locations showing the fight.

...... in the end, I saw the whole fight on Sports Tonight anyway.
