A few more pics

Look at that for a perfect Queensland day

The ED ran a few sub 12.5's , the ute was still in the money in Super Street when I left. It was the car AFF'er Bundy was helping out with

This orange Monaro won "Best Engineered" Not a bad feat when you consider 650 odd entries are all engineered and race fabricated to perfection. It runs an all steel body on a chrome moly space frame.

Trying to be arty farty :(

A bigger version one here:-

Hey Tibbo, excellent job with the pics!!
Slapped the sunscreen on all day Sat, but then I got windburnt too. All worth it though. Made up 100 fold for the washouts.
Some big dissapointments as always but I was stoked that Zappia won Doorslammers.
and yep the blue XD ute won

I think the crowd was up on previous years.. On the stand issue, well on the hill side it was to too bloody cold to sit up in there, no windbreak.. Most of the start line seats you can see empty were Bendigo Bank Corporate Tickets that fillled up when the group 1 and 2 cars came out to play.. It is a funny thing because 90% of the seating was pre-paid, reserved or too far from the action

I stood in the same 3 spots each day, timing the move was paramount (usually during an oil down or the junior dragsters :P) I took a backpack/chair thingo so I could give the legs a spell occasionally. That is why I wanted to get there before opening each day.. A nice breakfast on the run and calling dibs on the best spots.

I was either in the staging lanes, at the finish line, or way down the end of the braking area. I can tell u that was icy.
But Sunday made up for it all

So for those that went, got a favourite car or moment:-

mine was that little red thing running 128 mph in the street class.
Or that nissan powered turbo Torana that launched onto its rear bumper bar, then kept going for a mid 12

As you can tell by the pics I am a mad super street and super sedan follower

Yep I'm just love the S/ST and SS/A. Lots of highlights, gorgeous machines.
top picks might be:
- Zappia showing Benny how it's done in Top doorslammers,
- the silver XY and white Hk Monaro's wheel stands, (actually I loved ALL the wheelstands of the meeting)
- the 2 best passes for top fuel where when it got darker on Sunday evening, Phil Read and Alan Dobson (he burst into flame at the finish line), and then Phil Lamattina and Steve Read (Steve threw his blower belt just b4 the finish line)

Best thing off the race track was the security guard crapping himself everytime the doorslammers near us fired up in their pit tents.
