Jiggly custard tarts are one of my favorite fruits.

Custard and custardy things are a great addition to the range that a bakery can offer.

How long before this gets merged with the weight loss thread?

It’s ages since I’ve had a custard tart, and probably three years since a custard slice. OTOH only a few weeks since last baklava binge.

So I went to Croissant D'or Bakery this morning. Unfortunately one of their machines is down. But I still managed to grab a mixed dozen of a selection of croissants that were still fresh.

The verdict: The pastry was flaky, buttery, with a slight crispness to the texture. You can taste the slight sweetness added into the pastry itself along with the butter.

The fruit filled ones were a massive hit with the family. Fresh fruity jamminess along with the sweet buttery tones of the pastry filled your palette with each bite.

The Chocolate rolls werent too bad. But the chocolate to pastry ration was off. Meaning you ended your chocolate decadence in a single bite if you werent careful.

Even the plain butter croissants were incredible on their own. They were all large in size, all were still slightly warm and the consistency with each croissant was evident with every bite.

To me, this is one of the best ways you can start a Monday.

My apologies. They were particularly delicious. Not overly sweet not overl creamy either. They were probably the most well balanced croissant out of the lot. I was impressed considering they were Vegan. A definite must to try even if you get the mini one as a taste.

Baxter’s was one I mentioned, it’s actually sold as “tomato chutney” but there was another from memory as well.

beerenberg was the one that I suggested.
I hadn't bought it in a while but bought a bottle a few weeks back, it's quite peppery and doesn't taste the same as it used to. I hope it was just one bad bottle and they haven't changed the recipe.

Found at IGA, Its so good I've been preparing a local scotch fillet with shallow cross hatch cuts, sprinkle fresh black peppercorns on rub the relish into the cuts, bag it then pound it a little. Straight onto a hot buttered frypan.

It's got name like dog food but I'll look in the local Ayers Rock IGA tomorrow. Not holding out much hope. Lucky to get the absolute basics there most days. For example, I've been waiting eight months for cinnamon to appear back on the shelf

Had a lovely (wobbly) custard tart when I got back to Chiltern bakery today.

Poor bakery has to close for 2 weeks next week due to only having 2 of their 4 bakers being able to work across the border for the last month.
Those 2 have been working 15 hour days trying to keep up but are finally knackered and need it to close temporarily.
