Thats ironic mate, my old man who lives in Albury (i used to aswell) his swampy died aswell. Has been without it for 2 weeks as he had to wait to wait for another to come from Adelaide.

sometimes you can get them going again by giving the pump a bit of a helping hand. you'll have to pull it out and i think you can get a spanner on the shaft or something and try to spin it (the right way) and it may start again. i watched the guy do this to mine when i had the same problem a couple of years ago. i put a new one in anyway but it might get you going until you can chase up a new one.

I had a pump go, they're a piece of cake to replace, and not that expensive, well not 5 years ago anyway.
I think they're called a magna pump(there's the problem, it's a magna) from memory.
Just unplug it and plug in the newby. I rang around to my local A/C dealers for a parts place.
It's not blocked is it?, they get a build up of shale sometimes.

Just a term for an evaporative aircon unit. From memory the older versions were nicknamed that as they didn't used to dump water and replace it with new when you turned it on, and the old water that was in their was smelly and smelled like a swamp

Yep they're just a big gold fish tank pump. If it's old buy a spare just for later because Murphys law says it will happen on a stinken hot long week end and nothings open.

I think people are overdependent on their air-conditioners.
I have not used an air-conditioner for years, and I spend 95% of my time at home in my room.
I am on the western wall of the house so my room reaches high temperatures.

Big waste of electricity.
I keep my feet cool with a bucket of water and some ice added periodically. Helps me out.
I then use the same water on the garden after it cools down.

So nice observation...even if it was with a big shovel...

No, I don't use butter.
I use margarine, and I put it on bloody thick too.
