I doubt it, you always hear of programs you can get to recover lost files, but i never looked into it. Go to download.com and type in something like 'recover lost data', thats all i can think of.

You'll probablly get some of the files back, but even the programs that cost a lot of money won't get it all back, Most of the free programs will show you what it recoved, but you have to register the program to actually get the files back.

yeah you can recover the stuff...some of it.. how good at maths and algorithms are you? lol basically it will be recovered in small segments not complete recovery..

as for phone make sure you barr the imei so no one can use it..okies

windows xp system restore (is a nice idea) works like a dog itll only recover programs or files installed not documents or files (ie mp3's, .doc's , jpegs, avi's ...etc)

even then it doesnt do it properly its just a delete of the files in the install log or something like that meaning theres still crap on the comp...

anyways i hate computers and people atm...joys of boxing day sales

happy new year everyone

I've had good results with File Recover Pro - it's not the cheapest thing about but seems to do a good job especially when you haven't written a lot of other data onto the hard disk.

Cheers

Best thing is to do less, if the photo's are important to you, then they ,may be recoverable using a data recovery expert. however the downfall is the cost. Usually not much change from $500. The more you do on you computer before sending the drive to these guys, the less chance of success.

Wouldnt they be in the recycle bin, or did you clean it to?

System restore only changes the registry back to the last good configuration, it doesn't recover files.

Give that a go, its not free, but its well worth it. Finds anything, even after a full format.

I hope you learnt the valuable lesson of backup! ALWAYS make sure you have a backup of the things that you can't afford to lose. Make sure that you do two copies as well and take one of the copies off site. (I.e. Different location) No good having 2 copies of your backup at your house if it burns down now is it?
I always have a copy sitting in my desk drawer at work. So if my house and my work (which are separated by over 100kms) were both to burn down at the same time, only then I'd be stuffed.

As for recovery, there are some free programs out there as I had to do it once for my parents. I'm sorry, but I can't remember what I used, but perhaps do a search on www.sourceforge.net.
