Default Good news for Telstra and Optus customers in rural and regional areas

Optus is set to start competing with Telstra's Next G mobile networks in rural and regional Australia after being issued 3G spectrum licences for 972 sites by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).

And now you know the other reason for switching to Digital TV broadcasting. the govt is selling the spectrum so phone companies can add more mobile frequencies.

Just a pity it took them so long to do it, when I first heard of the whole digital TV thing, wasn't it meant to be shut off by the end of 2008 or something?

Damn procrastinators :(

At least its on its way now, and this is good news for those in rural areas needing phone coverage.
