Price hike in ANDRA licences
Below is a copy of the press release from the andra page, as you can see it will dramatically increase your licence costs for the coming season. If this displeases you please email ANDRA and express your displeasure. Drag Racing Development Fund To Commence In July Posted on www.andra.com.au Australia boasts some of the best drag racing facilities and competitors in the world and on a per capita basis, participant numbers remain among the strongest. The Drag Racing Development Fund is an initiative aimed at securing the long term commercial future of drag racing in Australia. Over many years, the credibility of real drag racing has moved well beyond quick connections with illegal street racing or hoon activities. They still get a mention of course but if anyone doubts that our great sport has come a long way, they need only consider the direct investment of State Governments in recent years. Racers in all areas of the sport know the cost of participation and that challenge also exists for tracks and their events. Corporate Partnerships are one way of offsetting these costs. For teams, tracks and events to achieve and sustain those partnerships it is vital that drag racing continues to grow credibility and awareness. Part of the process of raising the profile of drag racing can be delivered through quality television coverage, which needs to be about more than just cars or bikes going down the track. Promotion of categories and the people who drive or ride and also those who make some of our unique machinery work is important because it puts some human faces to the spectacle. Promotional information and other material for teams wishing to prepare presentations is already under development. We must also ensure that the climate in which this happens is positive, through an increased media presence. Funding must be generated within the sport to get the ball rolling. At this week’s meeting, the National Control Council of ANDRA unanimously approved the creation of a Drag Racing Development Fund. This will be built up through increases to ANDRA Licence fees and selected event entry fees from July 2007, detailed below; Licence Current Total Fund Fee New Total Group One 421 1079 1500 (inc GST) Unlimited (Group Two and Supercharged Outlaws) 241 509 750 (inc GST) Unlimited (Other Group Three) 241 209 450 (inc GST) Super Street 119 31 150 (inc GST) Event Entry Entry Fee Fund (Group 1) Fund (Group 2/3/4) East Coast Nationals (NSW) 250/180 200 100 Australian Nationals (QLD) 350/300 200 100 Top Alcohol Round (WA) 105/105 200 100 Goldenstate Titles (WA) 125/125 200 100 Top Fuel/Top Alc. Round (NSW) 250/180 200 100 Top Fuel/Top Alc. Round (QLD) 150/125 200 100 Top Fuel Round (WA) 105/105 200 100 Summernationals (NSW) 250/180 200 100 Westernationals (WA) 125/125 200 100 Tin Top Titles (QLD) 125/125 200 100 Nitro Champs (NSW) 250/250 200 100 Winternationals (QLD) 350/300 200 100 In addition to these amounts, tracks will contribute additional funds on an event basis. The Drag Racing Development Fund marks the next major step for drag racing, ensuring that the sport refines itself commercially while continuing to deliver worthwhile opportunities for participants at all levels. |
