well, got bored today and so i had some inspiration to get a mate to build something for me
after i had chopped 4" from the height of the gear stick, i found that the rubber boot was too big to fit and so for about 2 months i drove around with an open hole in the centre console. the plate fits snuggly into the plastic surround ring, and its 6mm aluminium. at the moment its brushed aluminium, and its still needs a bit of work to get the natural imperfections of the aluminium surface out. a bit of sanding and polishing and it should look pretty bling. shifting through the gates has become a bit more fun though, the 2-3 change is a bit of a ИИИИИ, but every other gear change is fine. its also a lot noisier as its now metal on metal clinking, but i guess thats part of the novelty factor. next is to get a bit of felt on the bottom to hide the inner guts of the centre console big thanks to veilspade for doing the work |
