Question Has anyone else recieved this e-mail ? scam ?

I recently recieved an e-mail from http://www.lotto....ie . They are claiming i have won a major jackpot !.

Now, for the last few years i have been filling out surveys for free competitions etc etc. A few times i have recieved free lotto tickets ( numbers of my choice ) to enter into lotto draws free for filling out the surveys.

Im sorta scratching my chin if this is a scam or not , as the amount stated i have won is quite large. The main thing that has me wondering is that the winning numbers mentioned in the e-mail are actually numbers i remember picking ( i pick the same numbers all the time ) .
I was informed of what date my numbers were drawn & my ticket # etc etc , i went to the lotto webpage and checked out the winning numbers for that date , and there are my numbers ! .

The only thing is that i have recieved that many free lotto tickets for filling out surveys that i cant remember which ones i was entered in - thus i don't know if this is a scam , yet they are my numbers !!!!!!! ???????

Has anyone else recieved an e-mail stating they have also won a large amount from this lottery ? , cheers . Rick .

Maybe when you filled in the lotto numbers, you did so and it was not on a secure site. Weather thats where you entered them, or the database of the lotto company.

edit. The site took so long to load, as if it was some teenager with a server in his bedroom scamming the world.

edit take 2. The site is now down. The operation timed out.

Would not surprise me if that site doesn't have a couple of virus built into it, hence the reason why I have removed the link

Yeah the irish lotto. Apparently i won on febuary 17th this year. Is this website for real or a scam ?

As chief mentioned , thats what i was wondering if somehow someone has tracked the numbers i have entered into my free tickets, then created the irish lotto website and enterd the numbers i use as the winning numbers , to scam me to think i have won ?

Hmmm , well i checked out that website , although i did find there was a scam going around for the irish lotto , the e-mail mentioned/show was nothing like i recieved , the e-mail address wasn't in the scammers list either.

If it was $20 i won i would probably believe it , but this is a huge amount , with my numbers i allways pick , and i know i have been entered into many paying lotterys for free for filling out surveys ? .

I have sent an e-mail back to the company stating that they will have to prove somehow that this is not a scam , and even then i will still be very wary.

I remember a few years ago I was doing the "free lotto" thing.
Did you actually enter?
if you did it may in fact be legit.
I actually won $30 from it once, as I recall it took approximiatley 6 months and me chasing it up many many times but in the end they sent a western union cheque to me.

Yeah i used to play freelotto and won a few small amounts and eventualy got them , but i also recieved TONS of junkmail from them too while playing free to enter lotto games ages ago.

Now, with this irish lotto, it is not a free lottery, and as i mentioned earlier i have actually won heaps of free tickets over the past for non free lotterys for filling out surveys (for lotto games you would usualy have to buy a ticket for).
I honestly can't remember for the life of me though what lotto games i have had free tickets for though (i've had heaps), i've never really paid any attention because i never really win anything on them (nothing big anyway).

I sent an email back to them claiming i am thinking this is a scam, they replied back saying they have nothing to gain by the details needed to prove who i am, they say they just need the details to confirm that i say who i am, and that the e-mail with the numbers and ticket reciept number they sent me was not sent to the wrong address. It was also mentioned again to check my numbers on the website agains the winning numbers for the date it was drawn (to prove its not a scam), i have and they are the numbers i allways pick (this is why it has me wondering).

details required are:

1/Ticket Batch and reference numbers (i have them , they sent them with the win notification anyway)
2/Full Name
3/Mailing address
4/Date of birth
5/Amount won
6/Nationality
7/scan copy of drivers licence / licence number can be blacked out
8/occupation

They recon they need these details to match against the details entered when i filled out the winning ticket, and i know all the free tickets i have won in the past have required me to put my name and address and nationality.(so maybe they do need to match it ?).

I am still very wary of this and have still sent NO details. I have stated that being it such a large win , that there should be some way that they can prove this is legitimate other than an e-mail.

Can anyone see someone creating a scam or stealing my identity from the details required ? . If they required the drivers licence number too i would be NO WAY, but from the details they require i can't see a problem. Although i will wait to see what others say and wait for another e-mail back from them and decide from there , it all just seems to good to be true ! - im not getting my hopes up yet ! . cheers

I would CALL them during the business hours of the lottery office, if as you say it's worth a bit of money, then spend some money to make sure it is actually a real deal. Look up the number for the lottery office or call international assistance or something to get it.

Name , address, date of birth.

There you go sir, a brand new identity.

Have a think. How many things can you do over the phone or on the internet with just those three details.

When they ask you for money to "validate" your win, or pay a "fee" or "tax" before you get the money......Thats a scam.

Be vewy vewy careful wabbit.

EA2BA, I think for sure that email you got is a scam (note the from yahoo email address). A decent size company does not use free yahoo addresses.

I am still thinking even the e-mail i got was a scam , allthough my first email was from the lotto.ie address , then the after e-mails were from a yahoo acount too , but they knew my numbers i usually pick and they did match the website results for the date i 'supposably' won.

I sent 'NO' details, and claimed that if they were who they said they were, that they would already have my details from when i filled out the ticket, i told them to contact me on my phone number (name , address & phone number has allways been required when i have won free tickets for filling out surveys). So if it was legit they should allready have my phone number and be able to contact me by phone, which shouldn't be a problem if apparently i won such a large amount.
Well 2 days passed , still haven't heard from them and no more e-mails...lol, SCAM imo.

cheers.

I am 100% sure the email I got is a scam, just hoping to stop some poor trusting person from replying and losing money, although as they say ....... a fool and their money are easily parted.

Anyone who even opens links like that, or does that free lottery thing and who gives out details on the internet like that is just plain bonkers in my opinion. I hope you have good virus software, and I hope you dont care that 987753302 companies now have your personal details!!!!!

Na , its not a problem , im just using a free www email address which auto filters out any objects/active-x/java/javascript etc etc hidden in e-mails , im not using outlook or any program like that to read and receive my e-mail ( and i never would ! ). There is also no way i would load any attatchment from an unknown source , but in this case just the e-mail was safe to read and respond to cflaiming they are frauds ..lol ;) .
