Talking Test Drive Unlimited: Falcon XR8

Test Drive Unlimted is a pc computer game, released in 2006. it has a lot of beautiful exotic cars, but the closest it has to one of our own cars is the Pontiac GTO (aka Holden Monaro). Some talented fellow has released a Ford Falcon XR8 to replace the GTO. it handles the same as the gto, but it's a lot more fun to drive a falcon.

there's a few steps to installing cars in TDU, but worth it in the end. Downloads and information here:

Would also like to know, as in these games I only ever drive with the "dashboard" view, as if I was sitting behind the wheel of a real car type thing.

TDU is an awesome game, reinstalled it again lately and have been giving it a half decent thrashing.

Also looking extremely forward to TDU2 - http://www.testdriveunlimited2.com/

So this XR8 replaces the GTO - because of the nature of the game, is it still stuck in the GM dealerships or have they moved the car so it now shows in the Ford dealer?

if you looked at the link provided, you would have seen an interior shot. it's got the full xR8 interior, even the dash works (speedo/tach)

Not sure about TDU2 but found this site with a list of the CARS in the game (note the motorbikes aren't listed):

http://www.racerplanet.com/forum/sho...d.php?p=186112

I would copypaste it, however it would make for one stupid long post.

Awesome! Is this available for mac?
Also, any other games with "our" cars that will work on a mac?

Cheers, Anthony

Unfortunately not - Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable are the ports available.

Not sure of any car games that will run under Mac, unless you manage to get some sort of emulator or virtual machine.....

Damn :(
There's an idea though! Although it may be a bit complicated...

Edit: Thanks for posting the pics, that really makes me feel better...

wont' work on a virtual machine, unless you can get a VM with a substantial video subsystem. most games are fairly graphics intensive and won't run on a basic intel video card thats in most vms. i know i've tried. i was hoping to use VM for older winxp games that wont run on Windows 7. no dice.

Just for the eye candy, here's a few pics of my cars (apart from the Lambo, I sold it, wish I never had done that) in the game:

Before and after the paint job:

I just realised how much I tend to like blue, I must get around to repainting a couple of my cars, and vary the colours I use....

Also, these shots were taken when I was playing on my old rig, so less detail and lower resolution than what I play it in now. I should go get some newer screenshots with better resolution & detail levels.

btw, TDU2 is on it's way, possibly November. instead of Hawaii's Oahu island, it'll be set in Ibiza

I still have a copy of that game somewhere, the post before mine, don't think mine was called test drive, but was quite similar.

I still have the box for The Duel: Test Drive II for Commodore 64.

Two cars: Ferrari F40 and Porsche 959...they are still two of my favourite cars.

Was a great game too at the time.

Riksta: How come your game looks so flash? My video setting are on high and mine still looks pretty crappy. Not that bad but not as good as yours.

Really? The shots above are shocking, when I was running it in 1280x1024 or something, and a medium sort of detail level. These days I run it 1680x1050 in full detail, I've taken a screenshot or two recently with the new levels of detail and it doesn't seem much different apart from the snapshot size because of the different res.

Example:

(coming from facebook so they'll be the same size as the ones above, but the original files are actually larger)
