Default The Victorian Bushfire disaster.

Well it is official, at 1422 hrs on Saturday 7th February Melbourne passed the old record of 45.6 recorded on Black Friday, 13 January 1939. The temperature posted at 1422hrs is 45.7 as seen here http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDV60900.shtml

Now that is HOT!!!

As it keeps rising, 46.0 at 1427hrs.

Laverton (10k west of Melbourne) has recorded 46.7
Avalon has recorded 47.3
Geelong 46.8

Hell it's even been recorded as 43.8 in Ballarat where the temperature is recorded from the middle of a windy field at the airport and the temps in town are usually at least 2-4 degrees hotter.

Don't take you're olds around town with all that new grunt.

BOM is showing 43.1° for Ballarat @ 1500. Is that a record too?

That's what the sky looks like at the moment. That's smoke blowing over from the Kilmore fires.
Anyone got some really good ones?

If I wasn't driving at the time, I would have taken some of the massive dust storm we had come over.
Weeks of 35+ degree days + 40km/h NW winds = I can't see very far.
Let's hope they get those fires under control pretty soon. I was only thinking yesterday that we wouldn't want to see any over here today!

The temps starting to drop over here in Adelaide, so looks like the change is finally starting to come through.
