im assuming you mean xr5 seats? The Recaros? All i can say is you probably wont find any this early. You would probably have to buy them off a wreck (not many of those atm) either that or you could approach Ford for a set, they will probably tell you to bugger off. And even if they COULD sell them to you they would over charge you.

My suggestion is, unless you really badly want them, ust go and buy some aftermarket recaro seats from Autobarn, probably cheaper and easier.

they could possible fit the focus. try measuring the width of both seats. also im 90% sure that the rails will need to be replaced with the new seats, then there is also another problem of the rails fitting themselves......theres a whole bunch of things that you have to check ....

There's a tag on the back of the front seats that says 'Airbag'. Whats the story there?

They are the side impact airbags. The blow out of the seat in a side accident.

When I picked up my focus I saw a new Territoy Turbo and wished I could have those seats in the focus. Black suede with a stack of warparound cushioning.

still no word on the forums of any apart from the leather ones for $1500, how much do you think a recker would sell a pair of non leather (upholstery i think is the term) seats for?

Another suggestion would be to look up the RECARO website and find the authorised dealer nearest to where you live and have a word to them about your requirements.

I've still got an old RECARO from my previous car that unfortunately won't fit in my LR Focus.

So the seats have airbags in them. How are these things deployed? via a signal from the ECU or are there independent sensors within the seat.

Like the rest of the airbags in the car. Physical switches in the body and a G-force sensor in the ECU/Airbag module. Needs about 50Gs to activate.

If you were to replace the seats, they'd need to have an airbag. Removing an airbag from a car and not replacing it is illegal.

Have a look at retrimming the current seats.

Had a similar issue with the ol cmmo with side airbags that come out the seats. You had to use this "vest" type of seat cover... it only fits in the middle of the seat. Looks ever so homosexual... dunno why anyone would ever buy one.

You can't for any car fitted with side airbags.

I for one never really understood seat covers. They make you sweat in summer, they're often badly fitting and they don't match the rear seats.

My car does a huge amount of varied driving in dusty/hot/cold conditions and my seats are almost perfect and have never had a cover on them, not hard to keep them clean.

But each to his/her own.

Default air bag seat covers

Would these seat covers suit the Focus with side airbags?

Id ask ford. I know that you can get seat covers for certain types of seat mounted airbags.

Ford has told me twice (dealer and ford) that seat covers are not available on the Focus, but I don't want to beleive it...

I would like some plain black ones (like the standard subaru seatcovers) with a small "Ford" logo or small "Focus" logo just below the headrest. I want to protect the seats without looking too gay...

Surely if they can make the seats work, they can make seat covers to work with airbags.
