hey just wondering....are any of these fast times for the VF GTS recorded with a vbox? From memory all the vids with actually figures are at the drags using the timing lights.
Vbox times are from anything up to 4tenths slower(quoted from tuners on this forum not me)then dragstrip times.
Quikest MAINstream GT Rspec time is 4.5 and 12.5 0-100 and 1/4mile respectively.
see where im goin....or have I missed something?

Its just that when a new car is released we are normally flooded with magazine compare times...done with vboxes.....not all these tested at the drags times. Have they all of a sudden changed their methods??????

serious question too!!!!

Looks like Harrop have a few kits in the work for the GTS

Stage 1 - CAI, blower pulley, tune = 500+kw and 900+nm
Stage 2 - same as stage 1 plus balancer and injectors = 530+kw and 1000+nm

Both include driveline warranty and a stage 3 is expected also

Well although I'm not a Holden fan I must say the numbers are starting to look good for the gts , mind u u have to get around the looks , u either love it or hate it & the price,
Having said that if the gt is dropped next year as expected and becomes the final xr8 it will be interesting having a xr8 at 50 plus grand pumping out the same numbers as a 90 grand hsv

This is simply just not true. I tested a GTS and the interior is full of cheap material. Anyone who says different is a dill or a liar or in denial or just doesn’t know cars.

That false over the top statement and the way the review in general is written therefore lessened the rest of the article for me.

I have no doubt there are many great aspects about the GTS but it doesn't hurt to be honest in a review or a least not so blatantly wrong.

Still I’d be happy to have a GTS in my driveway but no more happier than a lot of other cars I could name.

^^ Agreed and add in the needlessly emotive crap about going right up to Ford and delivering them a KO punch direct to their face, (classic fanboi rubbish).

You are correct. "The interior may look ok but its put together with cheap and nasty materials". Thats a quote from a GTS owner who is coming from a F6.

There are heaps of cool features on the GTS and after driving one I believe its worth the money but its not lightyears ahead of the GT in performance. My R spec is just as quick to 100. Its not until your well past this that the extra torque comes into play and over a quarter mile its only a fraction of a second quicker with all its extra engine, diff, and features.

It’s good to hear an owner’s opinion.

I do like the GTS and I know this is a Ford Forum and understand there are many members that don’t.

I also like Fords, that’s the reason I like to be here.

I think the GTS is ok value for money but I wouldn’t argue that with anyone as everybody has a different opinion on what is value.
And of cause there is no value in something you don’t like it to start with.

But all that aside and regardless of all the bells and whistles the GTS has, quality interior build materials is not one of them.

I was shocked when I touched the ‘Piano Black’, I left a smudge with my finger and when I gently rubbed it with my palm to remove it, I left a swirl mark and ****ed it. That doesn’t happen in a Benz.

The plastic aluminium (chrome thingy stuff) trim looks plastic from a mile away, in a Euro it’s actually brushed aluminium and looks like metal.

I’ll give credit to the suede, it looked ok and I could live with the finish quality.

Some sections of plastics were terribly cheap looking as were the seats, which is a shame as the seats are a great design.

And the gauges, in particular the ones down near the shifter console. Horrid beyond belief.

All the dials and function buttons are nothing like a Euro. Not in looks or in feel.

And what is all the mix and match about anyway. It’s like they’re trying to say look at me, I’ve got all the current trendy finishes in me. Where in the Euro’s you order the car with the trim you want, you don’t receive a smorgasbord.

A Benz for example if you order wood grain you get 18 layers of woodgrain, I’ll say it again, 18 layers of timber laminated together to give not only a great finish but strength in case of a collision. Nothing plastic about that.

Call a spade a spade, the interior materials are cheap, the rest of the car is fantastic and what a blast it was to drive.
And yes I have driven a new GT (from Sydney to Maitland and back) and I wet myself with it as well.

They’re both great cars and good value but that article was very misleading in regard to the GTS interior and it didn’t need to be.
It could have talked about the car’s strengths as it has many without clouding the issue.

The GTS is as good as the M, RS & AMG in some areas, for the rest you need to buy a Euro performance car.

^^ Totally agree. I am very fortunate to be in a position to own an S Class Mercedes-benz as well as what's in my signature.
The interiors are light years apart in terms of build quality and materials and the overall assembly quality generally of the Merc is in another league altogether.
In every other respect my SC GT-P is a brilliant bit of kit.

On the topic of interior, have a go at the wonky stitching to the right of the dash! (GTS)

that's embarrassing. Imagine having a passenger ask why the stitching on your $100k car is wonky, what could you say.

the strange part is, they seem to have the same interior in the ss. apart from the seats. which is great if your paying 42k not 100k

Nice sounding engine. Looks strange having a V8 sound coming from a camry though. I'd still be embarrassed to drive it.

Must admitt after my last F6's quality control problems I went over my new GT-P with a fine tooth comb before accepting delivery, checking for correct panel gaps, properly fitting doors, proper paint match on pastic and bumper parts to metal parts, no marks on the wheels or the paint, paint quality and irregularities e.t.c. e.t.c e.t.c. but who would have thought to check for wonky stitching, and the worst part of it is once you know its there, it would stick out like a sore thumb and really grind your gearstick, so too speak.

As mentioned above, on a $42K interior you might be able to put up with it but for a hundi large I'd be bleating louder than a newborn lamb seperated from its mother.

Saw a black VF SSV today, the nicest looking VF I have yet seen. Bloke was giving it heaps too, chirping 1-2 and 2-3, sounded damn good too. I quite liked it.
