Default FordForums Vs FordMods

I'm orignally a FordMods guy, They have excellent tech information, where I find FordForums is larger, busier, and just a good forum to sit and talk bollocks about my favourite cars all day at work!

What do you guys reckon? Is their Tension between the 2?

Geez i dont see this thread lasting too long!! But anyways

Well im sure you'd probably know that im one of the Mods over there. And in all honesty - there's really no bad blood between the forums. I think there may have been between the original FF.com and fm?

Ive worked with at least one mod here on AFF to resolves issues which "cross the border" between our two great sites. So i think it's fair to say the people that run the respective sites have a sound working relationship.

As for any tension between members... well, you tell me! lol.

Fordmods has some hillarious posts in the offtopic section. The flaming days were funny too, but it did get a little out of hand. I dont post on Fordmods, but I am registered there, and I read it and get a chuckle.

I have seen few harsh comments between the 2 but i don't see why, I like like + use both forums reguallry. FordMods is more "E" series based.

I use both forums all the time, started off as a fordmods member then move slightly more towards fordforums. I've only got like 120 odd posts on fm compaired to 1600 on ff.

Remember we got the Giant all Ford car cruise which will include all ff and fm members so there must be some love in the air?!?

Link to cruise thread is below, all cruise details can be found in first post so add your name to the growing list!

I read & post on both, there both are good sites. If you cant find the info you need on one site someone on the other will usually be able to get you the right answer.

Good old Ford Mods. Great site. An excellent place to go if you want to swear a lot or read about other people swearing in their posts.

I do like the site, but I think they need to clean up the lingo just a little

We've made significant improvements in this area. Whilst we dont forbid swearing per se, unnecessary profanities are not welcome, nor is any sort of abusive behaviour. We're not too precious about it though.

But yes - i dont think anyone would argue that Fordmods isnt a bit more relaxed than AFF. This has plenty of advantages and disadvantages alike. But hey, that's a decision for each site to make on its own.

The e-series focus probably stems from the fact that Fordmods holds a fairly young demographic.

Haha, harsh words about one or the other usually stems from someone who has had a poor experience at either site.... usually from people who have been wrapped across the knuckles

www.fordmods.com

i agree with the first post, the tech info on fordmods is a lot better then on here, more people willing to rip apart something to make it better.
but i guess as said, a lot of the members are owners of older cars, not many people are keen to rip a BF apart yet :P

i'm very active on both, goto both events, try to help both sites as much as i can.

How can there be tension between forums ? Kind of boggles the mind, is the question really 'are you a forum snob and have a closed mind'

I use Fordmods for tech documents but I haven't made a single post there. I like the tech documents over there. It helped me sort out my climate control and other small issues

I'm registered on there. Have made a few posts, but I don't really like the way some of the members express themselves. I think a lot of them come across as very immature.
(I'm very much the same in reality too, I prefer the company of more mature people)
Very rare you can have an intelligent discussion there without someone starting something, or just pointless fighting.

I much prefer this site, so I spend the majority of my time here.

I also don't own an E-series, so most of it is pretty irrelevant to me.

Hey look, we encourage as many people as possible to visit - the more the merrier as they say. And there's certainly no rules about this kind of thing, but think about stopping by and contributing when you're there accessing the tech docos.

This holds true for all forums IMO.

Glad to hear positive comments about tech information coming from so many people, it is something we pride ourselves in. More to the point, it speaks volumes of the expertise of the members - every single doco you find over there was contributed by a past or present member.

There is not as many people on there, but the swearing, and "illegal" stuff that would be deleted if it was on here is good.

I post in the forced section and classifieds over there.

There is way more BS posted over there than here. It can get frustrating, but if you look through it there is heaps of good info to read.

lol how do i entertain this thread.

FFAU: Vs FM
FM does have better tech talks and thats about the extent of it,its over run with younger more uneducated ford owners whom seem to be in the age bracket of 12-25 and that goes for the majority of the staff(not that im disrespecting them for the above im just stating this as a example between the two forums) and i have seen threads bagging FFAU and other ford websites whether thats still the case i dunno but i feel thats uncalled for and as ford owners thats pretty low etc but thats a while ago dunno about now adays.

FFAU: bigger, more variety, without half the dribble and 99.9 less swearing or abuse and ppl dont hack your accounts because they can ;)
has better forum enviroment better staff running it has more cruises more discounts and better organisation overall, though FM is a great website FFAU is better and thats my unbiased answer.

If someone asks a question that I know the answer to, I will definately contribute, but I don't visit too often. I'm already a regular on two forums (well, one of them's recent)
