Default My Pizza oven + tonight's dinner

Here is my wood fired pizza oven, nothing better than a cold Pale Ale and a wood fired pizza whilst dreaming of what mods to do next to the car.



Had pizzas yesterday so thought tonight would be roast topside beef and home grown veg :



What's everyone else having for dinner?

I'll be having the normal conveyor oven stuff from the local pizza joint..

Nice oven by the way. I bet it doubles as a heater on those cold nights. Ahh I can see a group of fellas sitting around it, beers in hands :

That's an awesome looking oven. I'd love one of them myself, until I can afford one its the old pizza maker that runs on electricity for me.

I gotta ask, when you make your pizza's, do you create your own dough and everything from scratch? I'm always on the look out for a new dough recipe or two.

Built it from a kit that comes with the interior dome and flue, build a base, and render it really. Best thing I have built, it just cooks everything so good.

It takes less than 2 minutes to cook a pizza when it's at full steam.

Any of you guys that are looking at buying a kit or materials for one of these, give me a yell, its what i supply for a living. Big discount for forum members. Sorry to pinch your topic dsyfer. Who's kit is it? looks like Clayworks in Melbourne type oven?

I think ours is pretty basic, but it works brilliant in the oven:

1 kilo of flour
30 grams sugar
30 grams salt
600ml of warm water
3x 7g sachets of instant yeast

mix all but the flour in the warm water, then mix in with the flour, knead till silky, or cheat and run it through the pasta maker to knead it.

let it rise for an hour, then I like to do thin bases, but this will also do a thicker one, plus it does a great calzone, keeps it shape and crunch.

That looks awesome, I didn't even think that you could use one to cook anything else other than pizza's, puts them in a whole new perspective now.

Yeah, we haven't found anything we can't cook in it, the Mrs is whipping up a cake mixture at the moment to go in now dinner has cooked.

The best is a tray of peaches cut in half, bit of vanilla sugar over the top and a drizzle of oil, into the oven once the pizzas are done and they just melt into the most amazing substance that is perfect with vanilla ice cream :

Thanks heaps, will definitely give it a try sometime, although I don't normally make it on that scale (I think the main recipe I use is 2 cups flour - quite a bit less than yours) - I'm guessing you do yours on a bigger scale than me!

And I don't have a pasta maker to do the kneading for me, when I do mine its all by hand with flour going everywhere - the real way!!!
Makes a mess, but it tastes good in the end!!!

That's a fantastic setup dsyfer. Job well done!

I did one just last night on my new Weber Q 220. It's not a pizza oven, but it still did a top notch job.
Before.

After.


I already had the Weber One Touch Silver Plus charcoal kettle, it does a mean roast. The digital thermometer makes it so easy, just select your meat and how you'd like it cooked and presto! It'll beep when it's done.
Now we have the Q to throw a few snags on, or the odd steak. Much easier than stuffing around with heat beads for 5 snags!

But to answer your question. I am on my last night shift, and there are 5 guys on my crew. On our last night we have a cook up. Take it in turns to set it up and feed everyone. After our Chrissy do we had some cash left over so I organised everyone to chip in another $15 ea and picked up the goods from the seafood shop.

3 Doz Oysters Kilpatrick.
3 Doz Oysters With Chilli, Lime and Cheese.
(Helps having a guy on the Crew who was a Chef at a Seafood Restaurant)
4kg King Prawns.


Then, with the help of my missus, Creme Caramel or Tiramisu for desert!

Not as sweet as your roast, but pretty good nosh for work! (no beers but) : : :

who's awesome? You're awesome! That's great, and an SA boy too. My parents are getting an oven in pretty soon, to complete our garden. With the amount of vegies we grow, all we need is meat and we are set. You've described heaven, pale ale, wood oven pizza and a nice balmy evening in the backyard. Being an SA boy, where was my invite hmmmm??? Haha all I had was grilled salmon with homegrown spuds, homegrown tomato and olive oil dressing and homegrown lettuce and cucumber salad. How horrible ;) love your work mate

Drake Foodland at Campbelltown stock it...Bla good stuff mate...

Then go to Ninos Smallgoods and purr-chase his pizza sausage...

I have bin known to cook a snag or two...

I hope in about a month ours will be built. Conventional ovens are ok but woodfire ovens are so much better

I don't measure - it seems more professional that way

I just throw stuff in a bowl and mix, too sticky, more flour, too dry more water.. repeat until you get it right.
