Default Bugga:: number plates covers

Well at 5:15 today i got a $112 and 3 points of my licence(sp) for haveing number plate covers **coff** tinted **coff** now they are tinted at 85% and thats less then a cheap pair of sunnys .... But i said to the guy "They where on the car when i got it im sorry i did not know ill take them off now and break them so they dont go back on " all the copper did was take my rego number did a check by that time they where off the car he comes back and gives me the ticket ... ok fine thanks for that i say ... im home now and i have a look at the ticket and it says i was pulled up on the wrong street all the other info is correct ( worse luck )
its race week here and we have cops from other placers and it was just my luck to get 1 from the traffic task unit from geelong
So What do i do go down to the cop shop on thursday and see if they will forget about it or at the least 1/2 price with no points at all ...... What Do I Say ??

Let's see. If I read this right it roughly translates as follows:

1. I deliberately broke the law.
2. I got caught.
3. I expect to be let off.

Frankly you should be thankful that they chose the lesser charge of driving with obscured number plates rather than the more serious one of having a device fitted that was intended to evade speed observation devices because that carries an $1,150 fine.

This is one of those examples where you take your medicine like a good boy and just keep your trap shut.

I have heard that if the wrong info is on the ticket it can be contested e.g. the address, its some kind of loophole might be worth looking into.....

You could play the ignorance line.
The fact it's passed a road worthy with them on there helps but how can you prove they were on there AND tinted when the RWC was done? You can't.
Just one of those sucky days.

Why would anyone want to tint a number plate cover anyway?

What if they get the car you were driving wrong, but the number plate right?...

I've got a mate who got off a charge, which he admits to, because of wrong information on the ticket regarding speed zone he was in.
Within 3 months he was before the court on a fabricated speeding offence. This was contested in court, no witnesses, Judge says your word against the copper's, you lose, start walking for three months.
He now regrets getting off the original offence because of a technicality.
