What's the go with Brighton beach, for any forum members who live near there? Are you allowed to 4wd on the beach if dropping off a jetski, is there a boat ramp section? Is it OK to drive through where everyone has put their beach towels and set up to enjoy the beach? Anyway soft sand and fun and games ensue.

The nearest boat ramps are in St Kilda and Sandringham unless Royal Brighton Yacht Club allows jet ski's using it's private ramp. ..NOT...
Morons doing as morons so... Wish I'd known at the time. No vehicles allowed on any Melb. metro beach. Last edited by Dr Smith; 15-01-2024 at 06:44 PM. |

Was all over Reddit when it happened on r/Melbourne, all the anti-car cucks over there were cheering it on because they hate the RAM and Silverado.

Shows them as armchair worriers; they could have flash mobbed the beach and helped push the cars.

Just another media beat up story, this is very common up north with people and their play toys, not hurting anyone except for the owner's pride & wallet, being labeled gooses for their stupid decisions.
You can rest assure it is good business for local salvage companies. |

A bit like the plural for ibis not being ibi but ibises, or if you must be quaint, the classicalplural ibide. I used to all too regularly trip over these issues all the time during my last 20 years of work in WA Fisheries in the early 1990's with fish names where we always had scientists on hand with fish taxonomy degrees all to ready to correct us and point out when a Latin root was not involved. It was so bad that I started to think Octopus was the only fish name involving a Latin root. It also got that way in those pre-internet days, where there was no easy way to quickly check, that I found myself trying to write all my (then mainly economics) papers in a way that I could just use the singular for any fish or animal species I needed to refer to. Then there's was the confusing platypus where per https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platypus Quote:

Cars will be pilloried with neither fear nor favour, irrespective of their brand, in this thread Just depends on how fully sik their drivers try to be.
aussieblue, WA fisheries, eh? Oh the conversation we could have regarding the GWS coming back to WA waters in numbers in the last 30 years...

sure agree nothing like the KISS principle but I have to say, using my 09 4x4 Hilux (yes modern compared to the Kingswood) on beachs/dunes/tracks has never let me down - trouble is its too much much in todays 4x4's or offroaders.

I’m actually surprised that it’s still legal to drive on beaches, considering that lighting a bonfire on such (at least in NSW) has been illegal for a number of years. An activity that seems to come with far less inherent risk.

Good old Indigo council (Beechworth) recently banned fire pits which seems weird considering every other council in NEV allows them.

You can still drive many beach's up our north coast CB provided you obtain a permit at the local servo etc..... Far more restricted than in the ol days obviously (used to drive anywhere but I get the preservation of dunes and the growth) and also depends which beach how restrictions are applied. Plus you can have bon fires at many still as well. Anyway if it wasn't for the mighty plane ol 09 Hilux I would have never experienced such wonderful places right up to Noosa. Would luv something like the ol 4x4 Falcon ute or the Van as noted above with those strong 6cyc motors but the D4 has performed very well.

No full chassis on the falcon but, that's what I love about the Holden panel van, ute, and 1 tonner.

You'd think it would be an issue from an environmental perspective too - oil/fuel contamination into water/sand. I'm very surprised it can be done at all given this day and age if you don't have the cardboard bin at work you're environmental Hitler
