ooooh. I can feel the paint spray can coming out!!! I can almost hear the sound of the little metal ball being shaken!

What colour are we thinking?

Unfortunately however, not sure how it comes out and have never seen a "how to" on it. Might be an entire dash removal I fear

Hahahaha, no paint yet. Im actually wanting to know so I can get the phone car kit installed.

I found a how-to, and like Tim told me, you need to take the stereo out first then it just unclips. So it shouldnt be too hard.

In the future certain areas of my dash might be getting a little treatment in the way of colour/finish : , but it certainly wont be a backyard spraypaint job. :Reverend:

Agreed. Ive since found a how-to from another site on how to remove it, so ty anyway.

Oh one other thing though, how to remove the aircon vents? Ive read on ffoc.co.uk that you can just pull them out but before i go yanking at bits of the dash id like to know if this is correct or not. Anybody had a go?

Well today the phone kit was put in, and as it turns out we didnt need to remove the fascia, only the stereo.

Kit is a genuine Nokia kit for non-Bluetooth phones, I do have pics of the install (not many) but let me tell you it does involve slight alteration to some parts of the dash. I had to have a small part of the fascia cut out to fit the cabling through, of course with Bluetooth kits this isnt an issue but for those who dont have Bluetooth phones (like me), you need to be prepared to see a drill at work in your focus!

Mine is a great install though, very happy with it and apart from the bit i just mentioned, there's no holes or extra bits in sight. Its all neatly tucked away, and it works very well.

Apologies for the large and blurry pic but here is the end result.

(linked for those on dialup)

You can see in the pic where the cable for the cradle had to be sent through the fasica, its a small part chopped out to fit it through but it doesnt look too bad. Its a very clean install.

Chris,

if it were a bluetooth phone i wouldnt have needed the cradle, in the handsfree kit there is a remote button which is all you need to use the carkit if your phone is bluetooth.
But otherwise the only other option was to run that big wire you see coming out of the dash along the outside of it and down into the passenger side footwell, so i chose the option of cutting a small part out to hide it all behind the dash.

Yeah i considered it but having just bought a new phone I wasnt keen on getting another one just yet, the one I have is more than fine, works great.

The good thing about this install is that if I ever take it out, the only thing I need to replace is the fasica, and I have one of those sitting here in the packet anyway. Otherwise if I took it out, youd never know it was even in the car unless you went looking for the wiring etc, which is all hidden and secured in the dash itself.

Focus Fanatics

has heaps of how tos n stuff,

I its actually heaps easy i have done it, for my head unit and bluetooth car kit,

U gotta take out the radio with the tool (or bent coathangers) then 4 screws behind the head unit ..

Then just pull the fascia where the clips are..
