Default v8 clutch

hi all i just installed a new clutch into my 220kw v8 but i think it is wrong as when i put the cable on the pedal is still on the floor. the throw out bearing is no where near the clutch fingers. is it possible i put the clutch disc in backwards?
any help would be great
