K&N air filter

Which is the best place to buy one of these filters, by best i mean cheapest lol ... not the pod, just the air box filter .. i'm in Frankston - sth east Melb.

Ebay's prob your best bet for cheapness,
i was quoted $120 for one in my small town (small town making it more expensive)
I ended up getting a Lukey one.. doesn't need to be oiled

There are more options than K&N.

Have you considered a Unifilter-brand filter. These are a foam element filter akin to what is used on motocross bikes. They claim to have equal flow as K&N with smaller particulate retention (20 vs 4 microns).

I fitted one of these to my ED and was very impressed - notable increase in throttle response and better fuel economy.

These tend to cost less than K&N and are an Australian product.

I have one of those Lukey cotton filters and I must say I'm not too impressed with it. After the first wash it started to fluff up and held up to the light I'm starting to see daylight through it which makes me nervous, The fact that it's not oiled as well to help trap dust is a bit of a worry as well. I ended up getting an Airhog filter from Supercheap. They look every bit as good as a K&N for half the price. I got mine on special for $35 and am so impressed with it I bought another one next time they were on special. I just use the K&N recharge kit on them and they are fine.


To the OP, have a look at an Airhog!

That'd be the one made by Fram? If so Fram make some very good quality filters.

Yup, Fram. Hold one and a K&N side by side and apart from the colour, there's not alot of difference between them quality wise.

just a quick Q, seeing as where all talking about K&N filters, where do you get the oil to re-oil it and how much it roughly cost (might be good to kno aswell TRIK67)

get the spray to. using the oil is a pain in the *** and i ALWAYS over oil mine and have to leave it outside for days to dry out.

Second this I have a FRAM racing airhog filter and it is as good/better than my previous k&n panel filter. Construction is better with 4 layers of cotton rather than 3 on K&N and the filter pleats a double the depth aswell.
