Default Connecting phone to computer via infra-red

Hey,

Just wondering if anyone has tried connecting their phone to their computer successfully and transfered stuff over? I've got a nokia 8310 and got hold of a laptop with a infra-red port and downloaded nokia pc suite and have been trying to ge the two to transfer, it seems to be dropping the connect or not getting a real connect because it comes up in connection wizard but then drops out. I've also tried Oxygen phone manager but that wont connect either.

If anyone got any suggestions I would very much appreciate it

Yes i have with nokia it works fine, did you get the exact suite for your phone, as not all phones will do the infrared, some only work with cable.

I have even used my laptop to dial via the infrared to the internet at a whopping 9600bps

I have done it many times but you have to understand that alot of nokia phones are a pain in the ***. I often lose sync with my infra red port so its pretty normal.Do you use windows fax facility?

i have used the nokia pc suite with an 8310 and it works fine. I dont have to do anything special to the infra red port.

maybe make sure you have the latest drivers for your infra red device, and that you have the right version of the pc suite for your phone, even though i can use a new version and i have a 6100, and its not the one that came with my phone.

also, you wont be able to upload anything to your phone, as it doesnt have enought memory, all you can pretty much do is make a copy of your contacts, calendar etc...

with my phone, i can take photos, and resize them, and then copy them to my phone and have it as my wallpaper, as my phone doesnt have a camera...

Once the phone is connected, edit your dial up settings to dial *99# and you can use the phone's GPRS to browse the web. Works on my SE T610 ok.

Be warned tho... very expensive.
