READ STORY FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This picture was taken by a KTBS helicopter flying over Lake Wiess about 90 miles north of Birmingham , Alabama ! That has to be a HUGE gator to have a whole deer in its mouth!?!? Are you ready to go skiing on Lake Wiess ?! If you ski at the west end of the lake -- try not to fall. Locals said there is something out there for a long time! This alligator was found between Centre and Leesburg , Alabama near a house! Game wardens were forced to shoot the alligator, guess he wouldn't cooperate... Anita and Charlie Rogers could hear the bellowing in the night. Their neighbors had been telling them that they had seen a mammoth alligator in the waterway that runs behind their house, but they dismissed the stories as exaggerations. "I didn't believe it," Charles Rogers said, but they realized the stories were, if anything, understated. Alabama Parks and Wildlife game wardens had to shoot the beast. Joe Goff, 6'5" tall, a game warden, walks past the 23-foot, 1-inch alligator he shot and killed in their back yard. Holy, Krap.

Bit sad to kill something so old and big. Deserves to live. but its not like putting a huge fish back to breed. If that thing gets the chance i have no doubt you will be in its mouth. And unlike most corcs where u can try put up a fight because there 6ft or so....23ft is a bit different

We see crocs all the time when we go fishing up at Borroloola. No matter how big or small they are they give me the heebie geepies. It's weird too, they smell really bad, and if you are near one you can usually smell it before you see it, if you see it at all.
That thing is a monster..... I wonder how old it is/was.

Why did they kill it? Obviously the house it went to must have been in THE CROC's habitat. Wouldnt the person who lives there consider this before moving in
UNLESS its a residential area and im completly wrong =) but lookin at the pictures i dont think so

People rekon they saw it at night and thats when the talk started but no one beleived em untill alot of people started seein it n the hunt was on

Thats a classic line thor, very true tho. a large majority are overweight.
I don't think it would eat kids, too many bones haha jokes. Big fat yank's would taste better, more meat on their bones, and less chewing cos its all meat and fat haha.

My grandfather watched a croc in the top end pull a horse into a river by it's head during a fishing trip. Once the horse was on the ground, game over.

Whoa, huge gator.
You know when you read too many stories like these on the net when you head over to snopes.com to check out the truth of them though! Turns out the gator pictured hanging is not the same one pictured in the water: http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/wcgator.asp <-- the gator that's hanging is in that story - true, but texas, and no evidence of the deer in its mouth pictures, or even mention of them. http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/gatordeer.asp <-- link to the gator with the deer in its mouth, also true. Sorry to be a bit of a spoilsport but I like to know the truth behind the things I read online these days But thanks for posting, it IS fascinating to find out that there ARE actually gators that big!

Crocs and Gators; last of the living reptiles of the era of the dinosaur, well the biggest anyway. Got to expect there will still be some big ones out there, they have been around for millions of years.
