I have a series 2 xr8 ute with the 4 speed auto.
Im finding it really boring as its shifting at around 2000rpm and I dont have a chance to hear the exhaust growl as it changes too soon. Is there anyway I can program the gears to change at a higher rpm? Im pretty sure I already have it on 'power' mode |

Nature of the beast.
Either shift manually or fit a manual gearbox.

How much damage could occur from shifting it manually?

No damage at all, it's perfectly fine to shift manual.

Are you sure it's in power mode?
Mine shifts around 2500rpm in power unless I'm really light on the gas, and at around 2000rpm in economy. This is with the adaptive shift auto though. |

Yep my au shifts wherever i want it to,it depends on throttle input maybe you just need to put your foot down a bit more.
I have an adaptive shift trans, has economy, adaptive and performance. With economy or adaptive it shifts early but holds the gear a little longer when in performance. But again it all depends on throttle input. Maybe put some diff gears in it 3.9 or 4.11 seem to suit the auto well. You can only really get a good feel of the exhaust note in first gear anyhow because most times you will be exceeding the speed limit by then... |

4.11 diff gears
will breathe new life into the way it drives. the shorter gearing will encourage the auto to drop down more often with less load. |
