The standard alternator is usually a Motorcraft but some had a Mitsubishi unit and they differ between the 6 and 8cyl. It should be a birdcage style. I sell these units and the 6cyl is a MXA283 but the 8 is different. The misti one is usually the same but you need to change the plug.

If you would like more info let me know.

I had to replace mine not too long ago ... cos power steer fluid was leaking into it and it slowly killed it.

Thank God NRMA comes out to you and replaces them on the side of the road for you ... 30 min and your back on your way again (suited me cos i was doing courier work at the time and stuck on the side of the road with deliveries onboard).

$300 ... but it got me going again with little downtime.
I couldn't wait for the ute to be towed ... then stay overnight in an auto electricians before they looked at it ... and then have another day off the road while they fix it (then try and get from home over to where the auto electrician was .... ie: other side of Sydney).

I thought $300 inc. labour was reasonable for a roadside replacement with warranty.
