Result....at least it wasn't like the famous Peterbilt snake truck I read about.
Had to tear it apart before they could ship it OS.

Reminds me sort of the time i found a redback in her web sitting on her eggsack in my boat. Gassing it out i decided wasnt overly smart as id had a suitable amount of beers. Probably a silly idea as the next morning the egg sack hatched. I did previously work for the company that manufactured mortein, so i wasnt short on kill spray.
Anyhow, toyota echo's/yaris's are mad. If you look past that they're slow and small, the rest is all good. I didnt have that opinion untill the ranger i had at the time had to spend a week at the mechanics and the courtesy car was a 1.3L yaris yr 2 door. The mechanics got it cheap as the paint was stuffed, but with 50 odd thousand on it, and the interior was clean. So being painfully slow didnt mean much being stuck in traffic all the time. Fuel economy was amazing. And turning circle/ car park manoeuvrability. Amazing.

I had a good one today. A few weeks back i was doing a fiddly job which required a 1.5mm allen key. I dropped it but knew exactly where it fell. Yeah nah, she was lost. Not the end of the world, i have extras, im a tool and a tool guy.
I did spend a bit of time looking at the time.
Today not for looking, but just walking past, something caught my eye.
Problem is i found it exactly where i thought i lost it.
Weeks later..... thats a minor win i guess.

Took the garage queen FGX XR8 for a fortnightly 5 minute drive to circulate fluids. Then noticed tank 10% to empty.

Ended up filling tank, then taking her for a run in the bush back roads of the LGA of where I live.

45 minutes later, almost quarter of a tank fuel gone, sweat streaking down from armpits both sides of T shirt. Made me forget the madness in world and confirm the sum of these beasts is far far greater than their various weaknesses.

I remember my mother complaining about making whitebait fritters per my father’s requests, she was always discomforted by the eyes.

First time I'd ever heard of whitebait was reading (viewing?) the Footrot Flats series of books.

Took me years to find out what the heck they were talking about.

And since today is International Dog Day

I think he meant Moro bars, L&P and hokey-pokey ice cream. Not Kina, or pippi stew.

All this fish talk just convinced me to go down the butchers and buy a nice big scotch fillet.
Inland and fish are not a good combination here.

Getting up early, 4 am and waiting for the sun to rise, had trouble getting washing done due to abnormal rainfall.
It's 8 am and the sky is clear blue and cloudless, on second load now, so yippee!

Happy days, had a knee arthroscophy a few weeks back.

Met the surgeon for a review, he says it took 3 times longer than the MRI suggested, he had to put pins in to stretch the miniscus ...blah blah...

Then when it came to payment he says, "we bulk bill all our services".

How about that?

Swiped the green card and home we went.......only in Tasmania

Fixed the oil column heater last night - timer bypass switch had shattered internally. That’s $80 saved, happy with my results.

Well it was last night.
Watching Hard Quiz on ABC.
A young guy was on who had a degree in Social Psychology (don't ask).
Anyway, Tom Gleeson says "Have you been to Dallas lately?" the guy looks at him quizzically.
They then put up a photo of the guy alongside the mug shot of Lee Harvey Oswald and they looked very similar.
Tom says "Do people say you look like him?"
He says " No, who is he anyway".
Everybody's jaw just dropped.
Got a good laugh out of that one, stick to pysch books mate.

Walked out to my backyard today and for the first time in a long time there was a bluetongue lizard poking around. I like seeing native animals. It wasnt a big one, but was over a foot long. Its not hurting anything so i didnt shoe it off, it can go about its business. And i live in suburbia so its not like its made its way from the bush or anything.

funny your mention being in surburbia.
For years we lived in Ryde/Putney area, you'd hear or see a bluey creeping around the garden beds countless times.
Last 3yrs we've moved to a house backing on the bush/huge sandstone rocks typical landscape, we see so many other aussie native animals and hardly a bluey - maybe once or twice, go figure.

Since the last bushfires ive seen an increase in native birds where i live. But not animals per say.
When i was living at breakfast point, which is more or less over the river from putney, there was always heaps of native birds about, but not creatures per say. To be fair, i was living at my mums, she lives in a penthouse and its maybe at best 100m away from cabarita park. So plenty of trees for birds to nest.
My grandparents for many decades lived in telopia and their place backed onto bush. As a child before playing in the yard my grandpa would first check the yard. It wasnt common per say, but common enough for red belly black snakes, brown snakes etc to be sunning on his well kept lawn. He also had a well kept shovel. Nice and sharp. That thing ended many snakes existences.
