Default EB V8 and AU V8 transmission, same beast?

Are EB and AU V8 auto transmissions the same minus the dipstick?
Ie. interchangeable?

Cheers,

I checked this recently with a transmission specialist as I had the same idea EB ED is electrically different to the EF EL AU transmission and can't be interchanged

Im interested in this question too, im sure it can be interchanged. Wouldnt it be a case of swapping over solinoids etc between each model?

stall convertors are different from eseries and au's. Then im not sure if au's got bigger pumps. I had a rebuilt btr's and they were telling me they were using pieces from b series, au's and eseries.

Wasn't the transmission electronics module separate in earlier E series, now it's integrated into the ECU?

in the 8 it was separate in all e series built into the ECU on the AU but the difference is in the electrics in the transmission the fall into to non interchangeable groups, EB ED and EF EL AU
