Default Calder Upgrades

Just read on the calder park website that they are upgrading the startline area with new resurfacing and there is also an upgrade of the pricing for friday night street drags, gone from $55.00 to $65.00.....Upgrades everywhere......no mention of the return road though?

http://www.motorsport.com.au/

Cheers Craig

$65?!?! I guess thats one way to make it look like drag racing has no support from the public.

Any mention of what the spectator costs are? Have they gone up too?

I'm still trying to figure out whether the current management got their diplomas from 'Diplomasonline.com' or Kazakhstan.

Common sense says that if your attendances start to dwindle offer incentives, of which discounted pricing is the best, I mean these guys fix something that isnt really all that bad and leave what people are wanting fixed untouched.

Because of this I am going for Kazakhstan, they have dirt roads and goat trails their, so perhaps they are trying a new approach here. :togo:

the return road looks like a war zone, constantly dodging pot holes and if you dont you will shoot a shocker through the bonnet.

I think you would get a better ride from the goat tracks there mate, at least they know what they are doing!!

Maybe bracks is behind this too, in his grand scheme of things anti-car related stuff, make the kids race on the streets for free instead of paying $65, and that way he can sell all the cars they confiscate off the "hoons" and prop up his gummints bottom line, now that the speed cameras are almost paying back as much as they collect.... :Reverend:

Yes cousin Borat from Kazakhstan said that the illegal goat drags were starting to gain some momentum, but when he saw a picture of the return road at Calder he said that they could only dream of such luxuries :

Bob is has lost the plot and then dug it up and lost it again, he should build a institution at Calder Park and house himself in it.
$65 disgrace.

Mate, the joke is spending the money on a part of the track that does not need urgent attention, I think it's their way of trying to justify the $65 entry fee.

Summer is coming, and if the numbers keep dropping I think it might be the last summer this place will ever see, drop the price to $45 race and $15 spectate and watch the crowds some back in droves. Is it worth making an extra $10 per person if you're getting less people and scaring even more away with this pricing, or is it a quick fix solution to the dismal gate takings of late.

No wonder guys on the other side of town don't want to make the effort once you factor in fuel to and from the place. I have mantioned it previously about seating and all the wasted seats in the Dome arena, maybe they should take some of the extra money and put it towards moving the seats, this might encourage some more spectators at least, but no that would be too logical. :

I'd rather travel from the otherside of town go straight past Calder in continue on to HPR. Fuel costs or not. $65 is dreaming. At least the Heathcote return road won't damage my car.

Everyones comments are justified that's for sure but for me friday nights are perfect as i still get my weekends to spend with my family although i do love to go to HPR. I can't wait for a track here similar to WSID where i reckon you will see wednesday night racing as they do in perth and sydney.

I don't mind paying the money if the facilities are up to standard and you get treated accordingly, what i don't agree with is that the current staging lanes, return road and pit area are a discrace (the startline area is a joke also so i can understand the upgrade there) and the main canteen doesn't have donuts or chocolate bars.

Cheers Craig

Oh yeah and i hate the burnout comps too they are a complete waste of time.

an extra $10 is a small price to pay for safe racing, we spend all this money on our cars and complain about an extra $10,

Yet many other drag racing institutions charge less and can provide safe racing and a better venue for much less. How can they do that? By not BS's the enterants. Typical Bob Jane style.

At least Calder are trying........

WSID may have better facilities, but its staff, management, owners have a hell of a lot to answer for.

I would take Calder over WSID anyday!!!

I dont know about WSID, but the staff at Caulder (especially the vehicle inspectors) are the biggest smart a.s.s. **********.s.....i feel like giving them a backhander then worried i wont be able to race. They should learn some manners!

You would what? Have raced at WSID a couple of times and no complaints from me or others from here who have raced there also. Dont know how you could mention these two facilities in the same breath let alone prefer CPR over WSID. All the staff at CPR I`ve encountered have been great but the facility? Forget it not even in the same country let alone league of WSID, Willowbank or Kwinana
