Default fuel filler 2010 fiesta

We have a 2010 diesel fiesta and I just went to fill it up and the fuel hose nozzel wouldn't enter. It would appear that the small metal flap at the entrance wouldn't open. Is this a common issue and what is the fix.And yes I did use the correct pump. Thanks

2010 is a change over year between WS & WT Fiesta, which one do you have as they are different and also what engine capacity diesel is it?

You will need to source the fuel filler pipe part number DK5142210G, unfortunately obsolete from Ford.

Thanks GT, looks like I will have to chase wreckers or after market. Does the flap at the entrance play a part in the system or just to keep debri out. Just looking at what I could use off another vehicle with a screw type cap. The car runs like clockwork at 137k so need to find a solution. Merry Xmas.

In the image below that part is called a dust cover, part number DN3242240A (obsolete also), but I am sure it plays apart in the fuel system. If you go to the wreckers you may be able to take off the top cap bit that has the flap in it. If I remember correctly they did come apart. As you can see in the image that is a separate piece but obsolete from Ford.

Does this look similar to what you're chasing or completely different?
