Default Have to sell my XE :-( best scrap metal price in Melbourne??

Hey everyone.

The time has finally come to sell my XE :-(
I'm not sure what kind of price to expect - I'm just selling it for scrap (boo hoo).

Can anyone tell me how much I could expect to get and who I should ring? Maybe Ford Wreckers?? Or sell to Pick A Part?? (I'm in the Bayside area).

PS If it makes a difference to the price - I could probably drive it there myself, choking all the way on the fumes inside the car hehe.

Any suggestions would be a huge help - Thanks! :-)

We sold our poor old XE Fairmint Ghia about 3yrs ago. only had 450.000kms on the clock but would'nt die. Ended up selling it to a mate for a speedway car for the same price the wreckers were going to give me $100!

Don't scrap it, if you REALLY must sell it, sell it as parts. What's wrong with it which is neccesitating scrapping it?

It might be worth throwing on eBay.

errr......a red one?? :-) sedan? let me know what else I can tell you and I'll get the details.

I didn't think I could sell it for much more than scrap cause it has had quite a few things go wrong in the last year. It needs a new muffler and as such the car is filled with exhaust fumes when I drive - I'm driving around with a handkerchief over my mouth a la Michael Jackson (nice, different, unusual!).

It also has a tendancy to conk out if you don't keep the revs up - which means driving an auto with two feet, especially at the lights with one foot on the brakes at the same time as the other is on the accelerator to keep revs up.

I don't know if it's worth putting on eBay just for the sake of it. Maybe sometone might buy it for parts for more than I would get for selling as scrap??

got any pics, whats the body etc like, most cars are bought for body and interior condition, not the motor and gearbox.
