Off to Queensland raceway soon.
All the mods should be complete by then, and the fiesta is proving to be quite a good track car. Have done the sprint circuit when the car was standard, so this should eb very interesting. I essentially raided the pumaspeed catalogue and got everything imported. Just getting the cams and performance pulley set installed on Tuesday so should be a load of fun. Although the best mod you can do is always suspension and sticky rubber. So mods done so far. KW coil overs ( sensational body control on the track - pretty harsh ride H&R front swaybar ( see above) all available suspension performance bushes ( noticed no difference) performace discs - (better brake cooling) mintex race pads - (noisy but great bite and pedal feel) braided brake lines - (perhaps better pedal feel) replaced fluid with penrite Sin complete millitek exhaust system ( seemed to reduce low end torque considerably- but top end was a bit better) k&n filter system (sounds great but negligable improvement) dreamscience flash tune (made the biggest difference to performance - cured the annoying idle/low speed problems) ridiculous expensive spark plugs and leads - (made no difference) fitted 15 inch wheels with yokohama advans (yet to test the stickyness but the ride is so much more comfortable) [/QUOTE] |

What you don't have in outright velocity, you're going to get back in corner speed.
Nice track orientated list of mods mate, just don't forget to put full synthetic fluids in the drivetrain. Cheap insurance. Look forward to reading about this little terror on the track. tex

AWESOME - NEW RACE TYRES!
Trust you are with it on the break-in procedure. Few laps at medium pace to get warm and clean off the wax, increase pace to 80% for a couple of laps and then one fast lap and park it for a cool down. A bit of road driving can help to remove the wax, but is very hard to get anywhere near enough heat in them on the road to properly bed them in. Oh - comfortable? compared to what? Car looks great - As somebody once said of my car (which coincidently was also red, and running on steel rims with race rubber) - "that's no b*llsh$t racing" |

Have got redline mt-90 gearbox oil and 30wt raceoil on board.
The oil seemed to help a little with reducing griding when going into reverse, although take it gently The tyres have seen a bit of use on an mx5 so are ready to go! |

talking of comfort - standard car on 17's is fine for the road. With the suspension changes it becomes very annoying.
I was quite surprised how much better it rode on the 15's. |

I've only been to Q.R. once as a spectator at the Shannons Nationals so I reckon you'd have had a ball out there. What terminal speed were you reaching? And from what I recall those tyres are used in the Aust. Proddie Cars Championship so I'd imagine they'd have suited the XR4.

very nice!
Did you have to drop the front crossmember to fit the front swaybar?

Yeah, I have been to lakeside twice and it is certainly a better track than QR.
Still yet to go around Morgan park but that should suit the fiesta even better. Top speed down the QR front straight in the standard car was about 160, although I am sure a better driver could have pushed it a bit faster down the main straight. Have done 2 sessions at lakeside, 1 pre and post suspension changes. lap times about a second faster, more importantly, my top speed around turn 1 (the kink at lakeside) was about 15k's faster, so it is all about maintaining goood speed onto the straight. Yes the subframe had to be removed, but the guys at Fulcrum on fairfield road fitted all the suspension |
