I really liked that. For that part of the market which is hot (dual cabs) they've gone and emphasised all the functionality - just like they did with the Terry all those years ago. They showed how versatile it would be for the urban/getaway lifestyle.

I did lol at 4 1/2ft tray, 6ft with the tailgate down. My smallest board is 5'10" and they go up to 9'6" so yeah that's not going to work...

If only Terry was still alive and got all the drivetrain and tech goodies this functional dual cab has got...

If only we got this (and their other utes and SUVs here)

It saddens me to think between say add South Africa, Thailand, India, NZ, UK and obviously Australia, Ford Australia may have had enough sales for Territory to make a case for 120,000 units per year out of Campbellfield.

Asia and India are closed shops, a 66% import duty was applied to Territory
by Thailand the day after the FTA. Ford realised that it couldn’t manufacture
Focus or Territory in Australia and export to Asia.

Our automotive trade with Asia was only ever to be us importing their products.

I see the Flexbed allows a bit of 2x4 to be used to separate the bed, ala what we've had in Falcon utes for years. Was that something that was developed for the Falcon or was it stolen from somewhere else?

I also like the colour of the leather trim. reminds me of the dark brown colour that we used to have in the late Falcon/Territory.

Not a real attractive ute, looks more like a basic tradies vehicle, even in Lariat trim it looks like a pig with lipstick

Just bring it here already. Got me stuffed why when Ranger is killing it here they wouldn’t leverage that and bring Maverick here too.

Hmm undecided on it. I guess here we have Ranger, which appears to be a little bigger and doesn't have the Hybrid.

Looks a bit like a Rangerok.
Not complaining though as it would be nice to have a
Ranger alternative a bit closer to Falcon.

Exact same length as a Falcon wagon and about the same weight.

Maverick hybrid absolutely embarrasses Hyundai Santa Cruz, Maverick will be the vehicle that
forces many brands in the US to adopt low cost hybrid entry models.

The tragedy here is that Ford never once considered Maverick for other markets let alone RHD.

Id never heard of it till I watched this clip, (wasn't the Maverick a 2 door car from the 70s?)

unfortunately $20K USD wont translate to $40K AUD especially if it hasn't even been considered for RHD.

by the time we possibly get it, it will be too late. think of Edge/Endura

I’m not so sure we won’t see it. Some are being manufactured in Spain along side the Escape as it’s the same platform. There’s no reason not to bring it here.
$20,000 US works out about $26,000 at the moment. If they could bring a base model in at that it would sell. If it starts at $40k nobody would bother.

Well its needs the steering wheel on the Right hand side for starters.. Spain is Left hand drive.
Bringing a car here is not a matter of exchange rates, surely everyone knows that, have a look at how Endura was priced.

Ask yourself this what can you buy here now for under $40K that is similar.
A corolla is $40K
A 4x2 twin cab ranger with the rubbish 2.2L is $40K

IIRC, the 2.2 Puma is now history, replaced by a single turbo 2.0 Panther but I get your point.
There’s a nice price niche from $30K to $40k that something like Maverick could fill.

Valencia builds LHD and RHD versions of multiple vehicles for the whole of Europe including RHD UK.

Just looking again at the measurements and it's 30cm shorter than a Holden Crewman, yet has the same tub length (about 1.4m)
Wonder how the cabin space compares?

Well there have been a number of Falcon utes floating around in Dearborn the past few years. I wonder why

First monocoque ute made by Ford USA since the Ranchero back in the 70's I think.

The RRP of the base hybrid is cheaper than a base Corolla in the US. The price they have put on this is pretty amazing really.

Apparently it's about the size of a Ranger in the back. That's the advantage of an east/west engine I guess. Frees up more room in the cabin.

Next Ranger probably steps up in size anyway, to move a bit further away from the Mav.

They couldn’t sell the XL hybrid here for under $30K, it would undermine the Puma’s premium
pricing strategy. That said, if it’s being built in Spain then there’s a good chance of RHD versions,
it’s a perfect little brother for the new Ranger and probably a better strategy than trying more of
those me too SUVs and crossovers.

I think it will be a fail in USA. Not big, loud, or inyaface enough for their truck market.
The countries where it would not be a fail is Aus and SAfrica.
But no, ignore them, as they are not part of the centre of the world, Merica.

Can somebody in Ford Aus conjure up a Ranger dual cab with 100mm chopped out of the ride height, 3litre NA petrol engine, and the Territory constant AWD.
.

I think it will do ok just based on price alone. And it's only competitor is that silly looking Hyundai thing. So it has no competition.

The base model Hybrid is cheaper than a base model Corolla over there. That's cheap.

I do agree about them thinking the world revolves around the usa though. ****s me no end. They think the world doesn't extend beyond North America.
