Default Only one-wheel burnouts.... what gives???

Okay so the other day I was sitting there, had my foot on the brake and revved the engine up then released it and i managed to pull a bit of a wheel spinage but only thing was there were only 1 spot with tyre marks.
Same in the rain, whenever I accelerate my car looses traction so easily and goes sideways all I can hear is the right back wheel spinning.

What the hell is the go with this??
Does that mean I only have 1 wheel drive? lol
How can I fix this cause its also pretty dangerous in the wet.

Thanks!

Yeah - 1 wheel drive (most cars are). if you dont have an lsd youll only get one wheel to spin. Power will go to the wheel with the least traction.

Would you know if there is a cheap cure for this lack of LSD on my car?

yup, 90% of cars on the road only have a single spinner diff.
high end or sporty cars have Limited Slip Diff's fitted.

bout the only way you're gonna "fix" it is to buy an LSD diff. and have ti fitted to your car.

Some places quote $750-$800 for a complete LSD diff. You may be able to score the diff centre from another type of car (commodore VL onwards, Nissan R31 Skyline etc) Just make sure you have the right diffcentre that your chasing. Then there will be some labour to get it fitted.

Cheap fix: go to kennards and hire a welder and helmet.

pop diff cover off, weld diff.

then go break an axle taking the welder back to kennards

Hahahahaha, typical EA non LSD ONE WHEEL burn out machine. Lsd is definately the only way to fix.

If you find the single spinner dangerous in the wet, just try the same thing with a tight LSD and you will not think the single spinner is that dangerous after all.

bullshit! Am i the only person here who agrees that LSD is safer then a single spinner?
Ive upgraded to LSD recently in my car. Before with the open center, if i was sideways i wasnt sure if they car was gonna stay sideways or go open wheel or what.. You dont have full control of an open centre. They are unpredictable. Where as an LSD around a corner u keep the power on and she will just stay there, predictable as.. Much safer..

Oh and yeah - 1 wheel spinning in the wet is *ok* because there are 3 wheels holding you straight - when both rear wheels spin around a corner you better be prepared! As you know, a single spinner is a real pain when you are trying to take of in a hurry though.

IMHO if you want to go sideways - get an lsd (easier to put it at an angle and more predictable). It is harder to accidentally go sideways with a single spinner though.

yes it is harder to get sidways accidently with a single spinner, but when u do, and it has happened before on wet greasy roads accidently, the car is all over the shop. I spose LSD is safer if u know what ur doing..

Default single spinners suck

I hate my single spinner EL, in the wet i try to take off and go nowhere. However, i previously had a manual 4cyl RWD single spinner and have learnt how to control slides (both deliberate and accidental) so I drift the EL quite happily.

You can still get a single spinner sideways in the dry, u just have to have more balls to take the corner with much faster entry speed, and then plant ur boot mid corner.

But a LSD would be nicer, and yes they are more predictable in the wet.

eed-250 is onto something, LSD is way safer but only if u know what ur doin....
an LSD is WAY easier to control than a single spinner pretending to be an LSD.

single spinners are way too unpredictiable especially when your tryin to do snakeys, and the more times you try to whip it back and forth the more dangerous it becomes.

This is due to the fact the wheel with the least traction wants to spin the most and if one wheel suddenly gets a lot of grip, off you go full pelt in some unforeseen direction, which if ur lucky is only a kerb....

I'm another person for the comment made about LSD's being safer. After going from a single spinner diff, to an LSD there's so much more control you gain of the car it's not funny.

i didnt fully explain myself when i posted.
what i meant was yeah its harder to kick out s SS, saver for someone that doesnt wanna hang it out all the time

but i cannot wait till i can get an LSD back under the fairlane....single spinner diff's suck!
LSD is much more predictable in unsettled conditions - you can tell exactly what its goin to do - where the thing is goin to go, so you can control it better.

Both have their srong points but for inexperienced drivers (like myself) i feel that a single spinner is safer as generally u keep tracking straight the way u want to go, with my LSD in the wet it dosnt take much at all to get crossed up and thats how accidents can happen... but u gotta love that feeling when you dump it off the line on the spot and the rear end starts sliding out

HA Dont ever call an LSD predictable... At least with a single spinner you know there is a chance it will pick 2 so you dont push so hard... LSD's love dropping wheels mid side ways action, and that tends to love turfing the car in a different direction , then they lock up again.... If you want predictable handling then a spool is the ONLY true way to know what youre car is gonna do..

Can you actually upgrade your single spinner diff to an LSD just by upgrading internals? Or do you need the whole kitten kaboodle swapped?

DON'T get them to shim it up, all it will do is wear the cones out quicker.

You can just swap the diff centre over with an LSD item, I did that with my VL. Make sure you also get the shims from the donor diff too.
