Default Youtube 'Plugin'

I often embed youtube videos into my posts using the 'plugin' wrap tags.

But, I haven't been able to find a way to have the video start at a predetermined spot part way through a video, as you can with a link.

Is it possible to do?

As an example this link will start the video at 2:57:15 https://youtu.be/Kca8FybMtSU?t=10636.

To get the video to work in the plugin, you wrap "Kca8FybMtSU" in the wrap tags. But if you put in "Kca8FybMtSU?t=10636" it doesn't work.

Did you try and ampersand instead of the question mark in the url for the time

Not a fan of the youtube plugin. Like all things social media they embed trackers.

It won't work because the BBCode that creates the plugin doesn't allow for it.

I could amend the bbcode to allow for two variables - one being start time and the other being video name so that you would enter something like (I've removed the brackets):

youtube=start time]video name[/youtube

but it would be a required parameter for all.

It's probably easier to not use the embed tags and just use the normal youtube link with &start=xx at the end of it.

No, I hadn't but I have tried now and that still didn't work. Thanks for the suggestion tho, CS.

Thanks Russ. Don't expect you to make the change as I doubt it would be used much, but was just wondering if I was doing something wrong to get it to work. Looks like there's nothing I can do with the current arrangements.

Cheers
