Just wondering what the differences were in the low/mid/high series spec BEMs?
I know there are colour differences ... but what about different operations they performed ... controls they looked after. Just wondering as I picked up an AUII High Series BEM for next to nothing. I know i will need to get my key recoded (need to get a spare key cut anyway ... so it needs to be done) I have read that putting in a half height antenna switch needs a high-series BEM at least ... anything else????

LG ... thanks for that ... by the sounds of it ... I might already have the High series BEM in my XLS ute.
Except for the auto headlights off feature ... that's the only thing I do not have ... oh and half-height antenna ... everything else is standard on the ute. Hmmmm ... i might get under the dash and see what colour the BEM is ... as the one i bought was a pink one (apparently from a T-series)

Body Electronics Module... It controls all the electrics and features of your AU.
Being an XLS, you may be equiped with a Mid Series BEM, like an XR. Which should have the power antenna. Otherwise Ford might have given you a High Series BEM, with the auto headlights feature, but never wired it up, and gave you the parts to utilize it. You never know.

I might have a mid-series BEM.
I have a power antenna ... but it's either up or down ... hee hee. I'd love to utilises the auto-off headlight feature when arming Smartshield. It's one thing that I like on the Territory that I wish I had on the ute.

Depends ... I am going to have a look under the dash (above where your left knee is located) ... and see what colour my BEM is.
I'll get back to you all and report what colour I have installed at the moment. Also I think the AUI BEM is different from the AUII & III BEMs as well.

OK ... a little more reading has found the following:
There is a Low Series ... and High Series BEM. What is classed as a Mid-Series is an actual fact a High-series BEM with a few functions turned off. Interesting indeed. Now how to find out how to unlock those functions. Like auto headlights off when arming the vehicle.

does the color relate to what series bem you have, mine have a olive color ecm that went faulty in my fairmont, i grabed another olive one from a car at the wreckers that i need to get programed by ford, would it be the same. i pluged it in and everything seams to work but the lights on the display didnt fade out when i turned on the headlights, is that a feature of the bem? thanks

I have a blue BEM, and it has occured an intermitant fault with the smartshield when trying to start the engine.
Ive read that some people have got the keys re-programmed at ford and it cures the problem. So i have booked it into ford today to have this done. If the fault is with the BEM, can you just replace it, or does it have to be programmed by ford? |
