I was pulled up for my wheels on sunday one day after getting the car back on the road. I have since found out from the mechanic doing the roadworthy for me today that the law states in QLD anyway that your aloud 2 inchs bigger in RIM diameter not over all diameter. Since mine is a series 3 and the series 3's came out with 18's on the TE,TS and Rebels and pursuit's so im assuming this would make them legal as an 18 inch wheel is standard on a series 3 falcon? Whats do other people think of this? My mechanic is looking into it and hopefuly should be able to have a definite answer this afternoon.

Last I looked on the qld transport site, it didn't mention the 2" size differance rule, only +/- 25/15mm circumference or there abouts

yes stealth au i talked to the mechanic today and he looked into it. He is under the impression as long as the overall circumfrance doesnt increase 36mm it is legal? MY car now has to be inpeceted by queensland transport so i will be asking the question to find out. Either way i think they might just be legal

NSW is the +/- 15mm on total rolling diameter rule.
I have a bookmarked web-page somewhere that has a calculator on it for working out exsiting diameter and what you can go too.

G'day
This may not be any help being a SA rule but from what I've read it sounds the same for you, and agrees with others above aswell. You can go 2" larger in rim diameter(but would have to lower the profile of your tyre) to what was standard on YOUR car only, not the whole range, e.g. if your car had 16's standard then you can only go to 18's. |

go get a t series tyre placard, and say your car was optioned with 18's

As said before, according to the most recently updated file relative to this on QLDT's site, there is no mention of limitations between rim sizes, only rolling circumference.

I thought the 2" rule applied to that model, eg AU which means your OK you just need to move to Victoria.
 Width is not more than +2" and not more than 1" increase in offset. I going from memory here folks feel free to correct me.

guys guys guys.... please refer to your OWN STATES LAWS not other states...
they are ALL different which makes it a pain on forums... in QLD +15mm OR -26mm OVERALL diameter is the go... my 245/30R20 tyres are perfectly legal your next issue is width.. which i think mine pass (didnt really bother checking that one) and then the other is wheel TRACK which again i cant remember as mine isnt altered much in NSW i know they use the +2" rim diameter rule as long as your tyres are right blackauXR8 then you will be fine as if you run 225s you may be BELOW the required max load rating for the car
